Why haven't I seen much outrage about this tonight? Is Ann Coulter that much more important than the US military sinking to Nazi levels?

3. I certainly care.
But damn, I don't know what to say about it.

Makes all of the people who claim we are not now Fascists seem rather stupid, doesn't it?

I'm outraged, but I wish I knew what to do about it that would have any impact at all.

7. True, but most of these top stories get plenty of threads in General
The only place I've seen it has been on LBN. I realize that the Alito stuff is happening right now, but I expected this place to be deluged with threads about this. If there were some earlier that I missed it, I stand corrected though.

12. I have actually seen about 5 or 6 threads myself.
Maybe with all the Alito stuff going on, they are just falling off too fast.

13. Some things are too outrageous for words.
(until I hit my rant key)

I was outraged and revolted to discover that we have to run a poll to find out if we approve or disapprove of this tactic.

And that poll was WAY lopsided, because I know I'm not the only one who COULDN'T and WOULDN'T click on that THING.

(rant off)

17. Sadly, No. No one really cares about it.
The same way most people couldn't care less that we are torturing people, killing people by the boatload in an illegal war and that the country itself is being hijacked by the Straussians. They don't care about what's happening here let alone what's happening thousands of miles away.

19. The problem is we do care
It's one more thing to add to our list of shameful atrocities being committed in our names.

We're outraged about each and every one. We go to protest. We call our Reps and write LTTEs, we rant to our neighbors, associates, and the person at the gas pump next to us. We call into radio programs and CSPAN. We email cable news and big name newspapers begging then to give the real news like this more coverage only to be ignored.

When all is said and done we come here and rant more. At least here we feel like we're being heard.

that our brains are overwhelmed almost everyday. An outrage a day.

This is how it happens though in dying cultures. There are so many things to be digested and upset about, day after day, you just get numb.

21. This is horrifying ..
and so is raping children in front of their parents to get information: Sy Hersch, the journalist, saw the pictures, and apparently heard a tape of the children crying.

I was a social worker for God's sake - paid by the government to do something about child abuse. Then I find out that the government - the national one - is in the business of abuse.

Heartbreaking.

Just leaves me speechless.

22. It's disgusting & along w/ the rape, torture of children & women in front
of suspected "insurgents" in order to get them to "talk", I'm sure this is just the tip of the ice berg of what is being done in our name. Whether its being done by our soldiers being ordered to do so or by private "contractor/mercenaries", its morally and ethically wrong and I'm so outraged I can barely contain myself. And yet, like the question you asked in this thread, I keep asking myself where is the outrage in this country?

We are living in a nightmare right now and I just want to wake up....

Documents Show Army Seized Wives as Tactic

By CHARLES J. HANLEY
The Associated Press
Saturday, January 28, 2006; 12:38 AM

(snip)

In one memo, a civilian Pentagon intelligence officer described what happened when he took part in a raid on an Iraqi suspect's house in Tarmiya, northwest of Baghdad, on May 9, 2004. The raid involved Task Force (TF) 6-26, a secretive military unit formed to handle high-profile targets.

"During the pre-operation brief it was recommended by TF personnel that if the wife were present, she be detained and held in order to leverage the primary target's surrender," wrote the 14-year veteran officer.

He said he objected, but when they raided the house the team leader, a senior sergeant, seized her anyway.

"The 28-year-old woman had three young children at the house, one being as young as six months and still nursing," the intelligence officer wrote. She was held for two days and was released after he complained, he said.

(snip)

These are from among the hundreds of documents still being released periodically by the Pentagon to the ACLU under court order.

Surely these are war crimes?

28. It is deplorable - but we have all heard about it before.
The fact that a major news outlet gives it time..... It is PATHETIC that they are acting as though this was 'breaking news'. It's been going on for 3+ years now.

I am ashamed of our 'news corps'.

If you want the truth you must rely on BBC, Pacifica, and almost any other foreighn news source.

The USA is wired as to only tell the corporate story - until too many intl. news sources corraberate an 'uncomfortable one'... then they SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, vSPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, vSPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, SPIN,

It makes their corporofascist leaders look GOOD. Then the 'talking heads' get raises!!!!

It's all good.

I don't know what the fuck we're doing over there. I don't know why so many people in this country can't see through the obvious lies. (although the media deserves a great deal of blame)

You're right, the story is appalling.
