I got a response from Verizon about Chris Matthews
Edited on Sat Jan-28-06 09:14 AM by Halliburton
We truly appreciate your choice of Verizon as your communications company. And we value you as our customer. We also appreciate your time and interest in expressing your opinions about the company's advertising on MSNBC's "Hardball." Be assured that we have received your e-mail and your concerns have been heard.

Verizon

I'm surprised that they responded that fast. I sent them an email earlier in the day and they responded by the end of the day. Looks like they are getting a lot of emails.

4. who did you write to?
I sent an email to ivan.g.seidenberg@verizon.com yesterday and they responded later that night. I told them that I was going to switch cell phone carriers if they continued to associate their products with Chris Matthews' hateful rhetoric.

2. auto responder.
meaningless. You email probably was not read.

They track email received and the more they get, they figure the better.

If you really want to get someones attention, write a certified snail mail letter.

13. Um... no.
It actually had the name of the show in the return email. They may be sending that email to everyone who's writing, but it's more likely an intern cutting and pasting and not an auto response.

15. See post # 3
He says it better than I did. You may continue in your delusion :evilfrown:

A name in the email address is meaningless. Don't you ever get spam from a "named" person who you don't know?

3. It's called "auto response"
Most email programs have them. Four canned sentences that gull the rubes into thinking that they actually give a shit about anything north of your wallet or south of your purse.

Do you really value me as a customer, Verizon? Then use some of your corporate clout to make life better instead of worse for millions of Americans.

5. well auto-response is better than no response
this is what they do in the initial stages. In addition, Intuit has been calling people back who have called them to complain about Chris Matthews, so it's having an impact. It's just not something that is going to work overnight.

7. True enough
I didn't mean to impugn you. It's possible that Verizon really is going to have this point brought before their corporate snout, and have to deal with it meaningfully. I often try to see baby steps indicating an improvement in things, and the response to your email could be just that. Keep after them, Halliburton.

6. Great!
This is my first post, even though I've been here for about a year. I've had it with the lying media, and they have declared war on us by allowing Matthews to compare OBL to liberal Americans. I have started to leave messages every day for Matthews, Russert, Couric and Lauer, etc at 212-664-4444 NBC news, and asking them to report the Abramoff and the K Street project scandals accurately. I recommend saving this number on your cell to call them and leave your rant everytime you hear them say something outrageous. It only takes a few minutes per day. I'm pissed and I'm not going away.

8. Squeaky Wheel Gets The Grease
It's good to see the responses by Verizon and Toyota about their Slimeball advertising. I figure Intuit...a company owned by a Bushie Pioneer...is a waste of time, but I suspect the emails are getting some notice and this is working its way back to MSRNC and Tweety. What good it will do? Time will tell.

This is a similar tactic I've long advocated to put pressure on your local hate radio station and it's far more effective. Most local stations live and die by local advertising contracts and a pissed off listener or a very happy one can make the difference between more ad buys. Having worked in the business I saw it first hand...and how a listener can manipulate an advertiser that manipulates the station. Wingnuts have long used these tactics...time for some "push back".

I recognized it as an auto-response but was surprised they had formulated a response around this issue. It said to me that it has become an issue.
