Exxon asks reduction of Valdez damage award
$5 billion meant for those harmed by spill

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

SAN FRANCISCO -- Exxon Mobil Corp. urged a federal appeals court Friday to erase the $5 billion in damages an Alaska jury ordered the oil giant to pay for the 1989 Valdez oil spill.

3. That's right, Your Honor, we hired a drunken Captain who fell
asleep at the switch, ran aground, and dumped hundreds of thousands of gallons of crude oil into a pristine environment and wilderness habitat...and...and...and...we don't think we should pay for that! Accountability, sir? Oh pshaw! That's for poor people!......I know Mr. Bush talks about it a lot but it's just TALK! Accountability? Us? C'mon!

4. Let that MF-er
Ted Stevens pay the balance. He didn't want them under oath. I read a great story on that SOB at "Counterpunch" last nite but it's down now. What a POS he is.
