Why do you believe that anything said on DU, whether articulate or flame, will result in ANYTHING DIFFERENT on the freep boards? They are echo chambers (as this site every often is). I am very bemused by your position.

Do you believe:

1. That the freeps will read the more articulate posts and go: "Oh! I never thought of it that way! You know what? I'm going to switch to a hybrid car, go to gay bar to meet some cool new folks and start listening to Kate Bush and Barbara Streisand!" Cos, dude, they're not gonna. The Freeps are a Lost People, dude. They cannot be reasoned with. They shift ground during debate whenever possible and never address criticism on the grounds it is made, they have no conception at all that logic has rules, they think it is mere suppression of emotion and are in all cases tribally motivated, if you put a 5 page well-researched essay with sources from respectable academics and journalists they'd sneer at you for sourcing the "liberal" media and "liberal" academia.

They support their side not because it makes sense or because it's good for them or the country or anything else, they support their side because it's THEIR SIDE. It doesn't matter WHAT we post here, EVERYTHING POSTED here will make political "hay" for them, whatever that is. They just spin it any way they like and those hypnotised by spin will fall for it. Are we to aim for the support of those easily hypnotised by spin by countering it with articulacy? That's not what those sensitive to spin are sensitive to, dude. Or, if they are, there are PLENTY of articulate thread-posters here.

2. That moderates and centrists are going to side with the freeps because we're really nasty to the Right Wing? Dude, there are threads on some of those sites that think all babies with AIDS have been infected with evil satanism and should be killed. It is VERY CLEAR who the extremists are. Perhaps you'd like to point in the direction of the Left Wing version of Fred Phelps.

Free Republic set up a smear campaign against someone on DU who was dying and needed funding to help his hospital treatment, thus interfering significantly with his treatment.

THEY are the bad guys, not us. Anybody with 2 brain cells to rub together can see that.

These are the kinds of people who will shout "woo-hoo" when arab babies get blown up and women and children get tortured, whether they dislike or approve of what we say here doesn't *matter*.

3. That their useless snivelling and whining actually gets them more power? Who is the imaginary audience that we're playing for, dude? How would YOU know what they think? Better to say what YOU think, dude, rather than pretend to think something else for the sake of snaring a drifter to convert later... in the end the drifter will drift away.

Anybody with a brain who analyses politics with an open mind and some understanding of what the world really is and how it works ends up as a liberal. They may tone it down later in life, but the liberalism never leaves them.

Neocons and freeps are a different kind of beast altogether, dude. They don't analyse politics, they SYNTHESISE it. They get gripped by one, maybe two ideas and just go round and round and round with them until they they fall over like a cat chasing its tail. They will do this whether we shout at them or not. It's synthetic politics. In other words, they're just making it up as they go along. They don't CARE that there might be a real world out there that we are going to have to come to terms with, that's not what they WANT, so they switch off their brains and go "LA LA LA."

This site is for US, not them. If they don't like it, that's *their* problem, not ours. They don't have to read it.

There is no reasoning with a vast majority of these brainstems...but there is a self-satisfaction of knowing you've zinged them or done something to get their panties in a wad.
