Why don't I feel that Democrats will take the election in November? |
|
I am just astounded. Bush and the Repubs openly break the law, torture, let people die, destroy lives, secretly spy on citizens, have huge greedy money scandals, and still remain in power with no real signs of weakening.
I know lots of you will say, "they are weakening! Look at the scandal publicity! Look at the plummeting poll numbers!" But where is the upsurge of feeling in the background of the country? I feel it in the Liberal ranks, I feel disenchantment from the Republican ranks, but I don't feel it has come anywhere near the boiling point. It's just a disgusting annoyance to most. Nothing worth putting yourself out for. The air is slowly being let out of the balloon, as always. The Democrats have absolutely no ability to make it pop.
In a normal world I'm sure we would have switched administrations long ago. But today the monsters are totally invicible. You can stick as many daggers as you want into the tough skin but it never comes anywhere near to being anything that a simple bandaid can't fix.
No, I don't buy the idea that we are winning. In November we will STILL have a totally Republican congress. Plus a conservative Republican Supreme Court to support them. We will be worse off than before.
And I have a strong feeling that it will continue throughout the next Presidential election. We will have another extreme Republican president win in 2008. I see no force on the horizon that can reasonably oppose them. I know you say, "No way!", but hell you've been saying "No way!" over and over for six years now. Talk about crying wolf.
It will change someday. Someday there will be a REAL revolution and things will change. It always does. But probably not within our lifetime.
...
But look on the bright side ... Maybe Tom and Katie won't split up.

actually, I think things are changing more than what we see. The MSM makes it appear that people have still drunk the Kool Aid and think whatever Bush does is fine. But I've talked with people who aren't political who are really mad about the wiretaps; because they are apolitical they don't know what to do about it (like writing LTTEs or phoning Congress). What they DO plan to do is vote in November. The thing the Dems need to do is make sure EVERY Congressional election is a fight. I plan to go down to Democratic Headquarters early and see what I can do to help. The only way I see we can fail is if the repukes control the voting machines again.

2. Don't blame the American people: they're disenfranchised by the DREs. |
|
If there are fair elections and the vote is counted properly, Dems will win overwhelmingly. But they would already have done so in 02 and 04 if the vote had been counted fairly. The American people spoke clearly in 04 but the Dem leadership, which should be well-acquainted with the fraud in GA of 02, etc., is apparently drunk on its own rhetoric and willingly keeps its head stuck in the sand.
This is really obvious if you look at the demographics and read the polls.

3. Those 05 elections could be a harbinger |

Browsing through the local stuff, the underlying message seemed to be that people weren't willing to trust the post of "dog-catcher" to a Republican :bounce:

4. because BushCo owns the voting machines . . . |
|
and BushCo corporations tabulate the votes . . . there is no way they will allow the Dems to take control of either house of Congress . . . they're in power, and they intend to stay there at all costs . . .

5. Until we return to paper ballots there's no hope |
|
The pukes and their machines count enough of the votes to make it come out the way they want it to.

6. Hopefully, because it's not even February. |
|
We have the ability and we have the time. It's what we do with them that will matter.
Also, I think it's because Republicans still have the national media on their side. If they were doing reports on how the balloon was popping, I think you'd feel better. Don't wait around for the Bush empire to acknowledge or legitimize your rage--that's OUR job.

13. Rocknation - Still have? |
|
They will always have them and that's a very large part of the problem. We really need to get truth in broadcasting or we will always be at a strong disadvantage. Look what they did to Clinton, Gore and Howard Dean. Believe me, if we do win in 2008, I pity that person because the media will do their best to do them in. Our one hope is the Internet - maybe if we keep holding their feet to the fire, things will change.

7. We must have a plan to offer Americans. |
|
And we must show why we are the party that Americans can trust to protect America and why the neoconartists can't be trusted.
If we do both we are the majority party for at least a generation. Repugs could fold their tent and go home. Period.
It's not about them. It's about us.

9. People are still repubs; will vote for them regardless. |
|
"party loyality"... even when the party is over and they're hung over.
I know plenty of 'pubs, geniune ande decent ones, who dislike what is happening.
Won't make them change - or go libertarian at best.

12. When the Propaganda starts flowing and |
|
the MSM repeats that propaganda day after day sooner or later voters will think twice. This of course is the corrupt Repukes plan. Now add this to the rigged voting e machines and its over before the first vote is cast. There is no doubt that the majority of voters want a change but the hell of it is the actual votes are no longer counted. Republicans will be fighting even harder in 2006 because should the Democrats win and gain subpoena power Bush is toast.Impeachment becomes a matter of formality. But of course that's wishful thinking. I dont believe we are a Democracy anymore. It ended when Bush was appointed in 2000

The media does not focus on candidates in mid term elections nearly as much as the Presidential election. As dufus Begala said the other night regarding the voting procedure, "We have to win by so much they can't cheat". Reassuring to be sure!

15. Well I hope and pray you are right but |
|
this years midterm election is probably the most important in our history.Im just afraid the Repukes just wont go down without pulling all the stops ..meaning even with a Democrat win there will be recount after recount..very much like the Governors race in Washington last year..This is what I expect.

media laws and voting laws are changed and we have no power to change either.

17. It's not just the machines |

gerrymandering is a factor, too. I won't give up hope, though. The deck is stacked against us, but there is always the chance of a wild card. It may appear when we least expect it.
