It's time again for my Democrat Party rant.

The old saw goes: "I'm not a member of an organized political party. I'm a Democrat."

Well, frankly, as one who has supported my party for decades, I'm sick of the way controlling democrats is like hearding cats.

It's time the leadership of the party stopped being invertebrates. It's time the leadership took control. The fact that a filibuster on Alito seems next to impossible should never have been allowed to happen. You don't see that on the other side of the aisle.

The leadership must stand up and support the grass roots or the grass roots will leave them. I can think of several things that could be done.

Any democrat that does not support the party must lose any committee assignment he has. That's where the power is, and the threat of losing it will bring them in line.

The party should hold caucuses with both the senate and house members to promulgate the party direction. Attendance should be mandatory. Or bring a hospital admission statement.

Democrat leaders in DC must start to stand up and give what would seem outragous press statements like:

"The country is foundering because the TRUE conservatives have no say in the Republican party."

"The republicans will see to it that only CEOs have retirement benefits."

"Iran is building nukes just like Iraq built nukes. It's all about the dollar vs. the Euro, folks."

We can all come up with more. It's time the leaders did too.

2. yes.
We have to stick together like glue.

We allow the bastards to rip us apart.

LEADERSHIP could end that long-standing flaw, now couldn't it?

and meet this Democrat Party sometime. Tell them about all the "ic"s and capital Ds they seem to have lost.

4. Old saw ...

Just giving a little credit where it is due ...

"I'm not a member of any organized political party, I'm a Democrat!" -- Will Rogers

See, Will was a smart guy. A lot of people don't realize that because of the Okie, hick persona he displayed. Well, actually, I think most people don't realize that, and most people don't want to realize that. He was an Okie, after all. Just a bunch of dumb, ignorant, redneck red-staters down hyear.

Anywho. He had a point he was making with that that completely flies past most people who quote him. To put it bluntly, it's a compliment.

Think about that a little while.
