Don't watch the SOTU
Bush will most likely use several of these phrases:

"9/11"

"Trust me"

"Saddam Hussein"

This SOTU Address is very important. It will be an instrument in the 06 Elections.

The response to it will tell us the following:

How cooperative is the GOP with Bush?

How does the Public truly approve of Bush?

This is our chance.

This is our time to strike.

Bush's Legitimacy is on the line, the Bush Agenda will fall like a rock if he fails to look good at the SOTU.

My Proposal: Don't watch his address, don't flip channels and take a 3 second peek at it, nothing. There is nothing good in seeing a speech in which you know what the speaker is going to say, and we all already know what Bush is going to say.

Go on DU

Take a walk

Do something

Let's turn this into a vast and massive effort, tell your family, tell your friends, don't watch the SOTU.

2. I never watch Chimpy, and I don't intend to this time either!
If I have to, I'll watch Emeril on the Food network! At least with him you learn something!

3. I will not watch it. We must nominate one person to imbibe
Then we can just have a fun discussion. Or play SOTU bingo or something. We can assign a phrase like 9-11 or something and play the drinking game.

4. I don't believe I have ever watched any of them.
They make me sick. I read where he will be unveiling his proposal for companies to ditch their health care for employees so they can pay for it themselves. More Grover Norquist proposals.
vomitous. :puke:

6. That will piss off masses of people.
Our company plan would cost a family of 3 approx $850 per month. It's a good plan, but how many families can add another $850 to their budget? When are people going to wake up & realize this CEO president only cares about corporations & rich people?

I never listen to the SOTU either. I can't stand to listen to him or watch him for even a few seconds.

7. I prefer Malloy's distillation.
One gets the speech with the appropriate outrage.

8. I don't think there'll be a large audience...
I'll listen to it, for the sake of being well informed, but I'm not watching him. There's only so much I can take.

11. I've never watched him.
I'm not credulous enough, I guess.

I already know the "state of the union," and it isn't a happy one. Since he bears some responsibility for it, why would I want to listen to him pontificate?

13. But will the Dems show "spine"?
I'll tune in to watch that :hi:

However, if I see them stand and applaud, in that "respectful" way, I'll lose it to Sex and the City reruns on TBS !

Of course, with the best coverage, the snarky DU SOTU thread, sitting on my lap.

14. Ignoring him won't make him go away
I will watch. I like watching and hearing him lie because I hope others will see the lies for what they are as well.

I subscribe to the "Know Thy Enemy" theory. We can't fight what we don't know.

If you don't have the intestinal fortitude for it, fine. Don't watch. I'll be watching and I feel it is very important that I do watch. I feel it is important for everyone to watch, but I wouldn't advise anyone to watch that didn't want to. Nor do I think it particularly helpful to "the cause" to encourage others to tune it out.

However, if I hear a mounting ruckus outside, I will turn my massive speakers toward open windows and blast Black Sabbath's "War Pigs".

:)

15. Going to go out with my pup, my XM2GO on Air America
and do our long evening walk. Best way to combat the stress hormones that will surely be building up as I listen to more lies from this pathetic excuse for a human being.

Then, will come back to catch up on the real time DU threads to see what I may have missed from the video side.

16. I think we should see how much his jaw grinds...how often he 'stumbles' w/
words. Some things you can 'tune out.' Others you need to observe...even with the volume turned down, or flip-channels occasionally, if you must. But a good 'team' always watches replays of other team's tactics. Think of it sort of like a Rubick Cube (sp?)...which we need to analyze, decipher...in order to figure out...what REALLY is next. A 'how to,' of sorts...
