The most serious accusation that can be made against a Prime Minister is that he knowingly misled Parliament.
Such a charge would be graver still if the deception involved hiding from MPs - and the nation - that he was acting according to a secret agreement with a foreign power.
And if the result of this were to be that this country went to war, a war which is quite possibly illegal and in which many British Servicemen and many innocent civilians have been killed or maimed, the offence might be so grave that the Prime Minister could face calls for his impeachment.
