I just completed a new Zogby poll. Interesting questions.
The first one that struck me was "Are you proud or shamed to have George W. Bush as President of the United States?" Zogby usually isn't that specific in their wording!

The poll covered almost everything. Bush, Iraq, Iran Israel, Korea, China, wire taps, giving up personal privacy, internet search engines, probably other things I've already forgotten, and even "Will you watch the SOTU speech!

I wonder when they will release the results of this one?

2. just took it myself
it was pretty extensive, probably the longest I've taken.

Which will be better remembered 30 years from now, 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina?

several questions on do ______________ (Dems, Repubs, others) have a "pre-9/11 mindset" or "post-9/11 mindset"?

3. I must admit...
I was less than completely truthful on this poll. I will do just about anything
to make Slumpy appear to be doing worse than he actually is, if that is even
possible. I even stated that I voted for him in '04.

Hey, it's wartime, and Chimp himself said we must be willing to make sacrifices.

I sacrifice my honesty. :patriot:

4. Do these count?
I took it too but I was under the impression that their released polls are from telephone interviews, not the emailed ones.

6. I'm not sure, but I thought I heard they combine the phone and
net polls but give a little less weight to the net ones.

5. How does one get to participate in Zogby polling? I would love to
share my opinions. Do I need to start talking to these telephone "pollsters"? - I've never believed they are who they say they are.

9. I was a bit disappointed with the phrasing of some of the
questions -- like the one that started with "Although I originally supported the war in Iraq" (paraphrased because of short memory). How do you answer something like that? Ended up with the none of the above response, even though I didn't really disagree with the last part of the question.

Loved the one that gave the write-in box for "most important speech a president can give." I said "for Bush - his resignation speech." I suspect that's why they put the box in as an option!

13. I agree-- there were some questions that I answered
"None of the above" as they were so poorly worded in terms of options, etc.

14. For the "most important speech a president can give"...
I gave this response: "When the president in question has lied significantly so many times, that's when no speech of his can be relevant."

16. I said much the same
And I am still wondering why they so deviated from custom as to have a write-in box. Do you suppose they are attempting to permit us to vent so perhaps we will not take to the streets?

20. I was wondering if Zogby's client for this survey is looking to
create some talking points geared toward our concerns for the 2006 election.

I wish Zogby provided a write-in box for every question. The wording on some questions left me no choice but to answer "not sure".

11. Lots of questions on nukes as well
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 01:09 PM by high density
Iran questions seemed to be kind of inappropriate in the way they were worded, because all of them talked about military force but mentioned nothing about diplomacy.

The "pre/post 9/11" mindset questions didn't make much sense to me. For one thing I'm still not sure exactly what a "Post 9/11 mindset" is. The Republicans are post 9/11 in the fact that they are fascist assholes that love blowing up a lot of people unrelated to 9/11 all in the name of 9/11. Many Democrats are post 9/11 in the way that they seem to constantly pander to the "centrists" that don't know what the hell is going on and the die-hard Republicans that will never vote for them.

15. I just finished it but I had critisisms and I emailed marc with those
critisims because it didn't ask me if i was going to be joining one of the thousands of SOTU demonstrations scheduled around the country. ;)

also on the nuclear war questions (iran and korea) not one question on the evil policies that allowed the proliferation of nuclear weaponry, and the other aspects of our foreing policy, saber rattling, ratcheting up for a nuclear showdown.

i had a few others too, but these were my main issues on that poll.

19. Sometimes it takes a while to mail out all the surveys.
I usually get mine a day after others do.
