The Framers gave us The DC Mall...Why don’t we use it?
The First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law.. abridging the freedom of speech.. or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

We have the right to peaceably assemble and petition this government for these grievances (among many others). That is the purpose of the DC Mall. I say it’s high time we use it.

Click for an extra large pic, or check it out on Google Maps and get directions (;

How long til we realize that a Saturday afternoon protest ain’t gonna cut it. It’s time to stay as long as it takes.

1. But, But, But... Is it a "Free Speech Zone"?
You know how it goes, we can only have our cute little protests where the Monkey tells us we can.

2. No, they did not.
Washington D.C. didn't exist. The framers met in Philadelphia.

3. The framers knew what they were talking about
and it is just this sort of a scenearo...they would be horrified. What is wrong with the basic Republican people that they don't see what their party is to or what their party now stands for? I think it is terrifying. Really.

4. I'm in. I am really starting to feel like I need to do something
concrete. Continuously bitching just isn't as satisfying as it used to be. I think I am going to head over to my state forum and see if I can drum up some interest in a local protest. If something national gets organized in DC, I'm there, too.

Washington DC: West Side of the Capitol on the National Mall
In DC, we will gather as close as we can to the scene of the impending lies:
We will be on the west side of the Capitol, around and in front of the reflecting pool. The Press will be parked along 3rd Street and along the South Side of the Capitol (Independence).

8:00 pm - Cindy Sheehan and Ann Wright will speak; they will be followed by other speakers (the Rev. Yearwood and Doug Nelson, an Vietnam War vet).
9:00 pm - The main event will begin:

Picture a marching band/brass ensemble, a drum circle, a choir, tap dancers, a rock ensemble, hip-hop poetry, other spoken word, hootenany, African, Asian, Irish glorious soaring rhythmic, each beginning and doing a few minutes in sequence, followed by overlapping moments, followed by at least 30 minutes of jazz-like improv, call and response, followed by one fully stunning long-held harmonious wall of sound that rises to the heavens.
