On CNN Sunday David Gergen (sp) " Bush is on the offensive, he is gonna
get Judge Alito approved on Tue and his strong stance on the NSA spying case has made the Dems. put their guns down..."

WTF.. . Its the weekend and there are many battles to fight Dave, keep your thing in your pants your GW is far from out of the woods and is no way on a credible "offensive" the only thing "offensive" is the way he butchers the english language....

I mean he kept referring to GWs press conf. the other day, like it was a good thing???

1. Good; let Gergen keep his head in the sand and spout all he
wants. He'll be correcting himself soon enough.

2. He actually has a good point...
...the Dems should have seized on the spying issue and run with it...they're allowing Bush to define what they're talking about. And they should have seized on the radical rulings of Alito and run with that also. They keep missing opportunities...their incompetence is breath-taking.

5. I sort of agree, but there are only so many hours in a news cycle.
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 06:43 PM by ihelpu2see
I do not think there is enough time from the Tuesday eve. news to the Thursday eve. news to get the ball rolling on connecting the two issues. There was a great article on the AFP wire about Paul Wolfowitless but not picked up by the AP or any of the Corp. Media. So it will be a slow slog... But the case will be made probably after Alito is nominated but the case will be made and Cheney/Bush will face impeachment... If we do not spend to much political capital and good will on the filibuster thing.

10. The "filibuster thing"?
Exactly what are we saving this political capital for? Georgie's coronation? Will we object to kissing his feet and declare a victory if we only kiss his ass?

12. Sorry, I did not mean to discredit the Filibuster of Alito, I was in a
rush while typing.... But, seeing that Bush has lied in his last 2 State of the Union Speeches and we still lost elections. I would hope that we could keep the pressure on the NSA DOMESTIC Spying as well as the income disparity! I too support the Filibuster but I do want the Dems. to take back the house and the Senate so we can Impeach Cheney and Bush for lies and crimes against the constitution.

7. It is indeed. Statching defeat from the jaws of victory time after time
"keeping their powder dry" so we can lose a few more elections :-(

8. Gergen's right, as usual...
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 06:46 PM by sampsonblk
The Dem opposition to the NSA program has apparently fizzled out. Dems are not pressing the spying issue nearly as much as is warranted. Why does this seem so familiar?

I also recall many (including some here) saying that our side should let the GOPers hang themselves, so to speak. This, I think, is a mistake. These devils will go down fighting no matter how obvious or serious the charge against them. If we want to see them held to account for the things they have done, all of us - elected or not - need to press them and press them again on the issues.

9. Gergen Has To Realize That
the Dems are slowed down, since they have to communicate in person...can't use the phone or computer due to "ears" all around the place. They need a Senate Pajama Party so they can plan their strategy. :-)

It ain't gonna get any better, folks!

14. Bush won't get Alito approved, the white male supremist PNAC will though
and other elitist groups designed to promote more of a police/corporatized state.

Of course it sounds bizarre, because we never thought there would be those who would actually get to such an abusive level. That is what they bank on - our being broadsided by their assault. I believe that seems to be what is happening.

There is NO reason that every single person in this Senate should not be voting for such a yes person like Alito. A filibuster should have been a given. Instead I wonder if we are seeing a faked procedure to make it look like they are trying. Have we been here before? Please tell me Im wrong. I hope this is not the case, but there should be absolutely no way in hell this person is being appointed other than a larger picture to install a more fascist system for the wealthiest and most extremist elite.

Again, tell me Im wrong.

If Im not, what is this but an installation of fascism and it looks as though some of our Democrats are involved.

More and more it doesnt seem to be as much about Dems and Republicans. That seems to be a convenient smoke screen.

Its about Americans waking up from our denial.
