Doesn't Bush know any competent people?
On 60 Minutes tonight we met yet another idiot hired by Bush.

A hundred thousand doses is not nearly enough," he says. "If you really had a major attack you probably would need much more than that. One estimate we made was that we’d need 10 million doses."

Who made the decision to buy 100,000 doses instead of 10 million? It was Stewart Simonson, the man who oversees Project Bioshield. Simonson is a Republican political appointee who, before running Project Bioshield, was a lawyer for Amtrak. Republicans as well as Democrats have criticized his management of the program.

"Secretary Simonson just appears to be over his head on this particular issue," says Rep. Tom Davis, a Virginia Republican, who chairs the committee that oversees Project Bioshield.

Davis, who usually supports the administration, is taking the unusual step of calling in this story for Simonson’s removal from Bioshield.

He says Simonson lacks the necessary technical and scientific background, and compares him to Michael Brown, the former FEMA director who resigned after Hurricane Katrina.

"Oh, I think that we’re seeing the same kind of issues," says Davis. "Michael Brown had been before our committee prior to Katrina and exhibited the same kind of arrogance, a lack of expertise. This is a serious job at this point, and I think we need to have professionals filling it, not political appointees."

Yes, the person who was hired to make sure we didn't die of radiation sickness if Iraq actually sold those nukes to Al Quida was yet another incompetent bozo. Will it never end? Obviously this administration doesn't know alot of competent people but Chirst Jesus couldn't he find one for this task? This man is in charge of preventing mass death in case of a nuclear attack on one of our cities and thinks that evacuation to neighboring hospitals is hunky dory.

Nixon may have been a crook but even he would have known better than this. Where, oh where have the competent Republicans gone?

17. Sure he does... they're called "opponents."
One was Al Gore, the other was John Kerry.

...and they're both back, and they're both swingin'.

16. Perhaps, but those that bow down to his ideology, regardless of
how (in)competent he appears, have been hired. Yeah, you're right, it's all about the moola.
His dad has the same legacy, during Hurricane Andrew, of hiring someone wholly incompetent. There's that apple again, on the ground in the shade!

14. No, the shrub doesn't have any 'friend' who are competent....
...he is surrounded by genuine 'fiends' of the worst possible type.

You know, ALL you Senators....I really don't care what the h*ll 'they' "have" on you....cause it's gotta be something, and it's gotta be something BIG ~ each and every one of you who won't shut down Sam Alito's appointment ~ they've got SOMETHING 'they're' holding over your head...cause otherwise what you're doing (or NOT DOING) doesn't make a d*mn bit of sense.

The people will most likely 'let your sins go' if you shut this thing down, b/c it's the BIG KAHUNA....the Rubicon (there's no going back) after this...
