How much does this country need Bill Hicks today? And if you don't know who Bill Hicks, acquire as many of his albums as you can find...now.

1. Shouldn't Frank Zappa be in that group also?
I agree. Bill died way too young and he'd be having a stroke with the current administration.

6. Yes, definately!
Zappa was way ahead of his time, he's probably rolling around in his grave due to the current administration.

14. Nah, nothing happening today would surprise either Frank or Bill
they both knew this was coming and tried to warn us. It seemed to me that they both also figured most of us deserve it.

20. Bill warned us OVER and OVER and OVER...
He wouldn't be in the least bit surprised.

4. How about...
How about Bobby, Martin, and John... I think those were the deaths that really allowed our party to split and go into 30 years of steady decline.

7. Agreed! I just bought the "Bill Hicks - Sane Man" DVD the other day.
It's great and it reminded me of how funny his comedy really is!

10. After we got Alitoed today, this Hicks bit is prescient:
"There's no fucking hope in Clinton...there all fuckin' the same. I'll show you politics in America, here it is right here:

"I think the puppet on the right shares my beliefs..."

"I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking..."

"Hey, wait a minute...there's one guy holding up both puppets!"

"SHUT UP! Go back to bed, America. Your government is in control. Here's Love Connection, watch this and get fat and stupid. By the way, keep drinking beer, you fucking morons."

11. Jesse Helms sucks Satan's cock.
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 10:28 PM by KyuzoGator
"You know what I mean, you want a better world ladies and gentlemen? Legalize pot right now. You want to end the deficit? Legalize pot right now.

I am so sick of hearing about the goddamn deficit I can fuckin' puke blood. There ain't no fuckin' deficit, it's a fuckin' lie and it's a fuckin' illusion in the first place. But you want to end it? Legalize pot. Biggest cash crop in America. Deficit's gone.

I am so sick of hearing about, 'Well, your leaders misspent your hard-earned tax dollars, so you the people now have to tighten your belts and we gotta start payin' this back. Because we, your leaders, misspent your money.'

You know what would make tightening my belt a little easier? If I could tighten it around Jesse Helms' scrawny little chicken neck.

'Ah! I feel better about the sacrifice right now! You fuckin' tobacco-pushin' motherfucker! You are the worst fuckin' drug dealer in the fuckin' world! You scrawny right-wing, fear-mongering piece of - sucker of Satan's cock! You suck Satan's cock, you fuckin' chicken-neck little fuckin' cracker!'

I'd tighten my belt if that were the case. I'd eat baloney for a week, you know what I mean? I'd sacrifice.

Boy, Jesse Helms is another great one, isn't he? Just another little fevered ego tainting our collective unconscious. 'Cause you know, anyone - like Swaggart - anyone that far to the right is hiding a very deep and dark secret. You do know that, right?

I'm an armchair fuckin' psychologist, but you know that when Jesse Helms finally dies, he's gonna commit suicide first of all in a washtub out back underneath a pecan tree. He's gonna slash his wrists and he's gonna write in blood, 'I've been a bad boy.'

But you know they're gonna find the skins of young children drying in his attic. Swarms of horseflies going in and out of the eaves. And on CNN over and over, his wife going, 'I always wondered about Jesse's collection of little shoes...'

Anyone that far to the right is fuckin' hiding a deep, dark secret."

12. Bill Hicks is sorely missed
"I'm so sick of arming the world, then sending troops over to destroy the fucking arms, you know what I mean? We keep arming these little countries, then we go and blow the shit out of them. We're like the bullies of the world, y'know. We're like Jack Palance in the movie Shane, throwing the pistol at the sheepherder's feet.

"Pick it up."

"I don't wanna pick it up, Mister, you'll shoot me."

"Pick up the gun."

"Mister, I don't want no trouble. I just came downtown here to get some hard rock candy for my kids, some gingham for my wife. I don't even know what gingham is, but she goes through about ten rolls a week of that stuff. I ain't looking for no trouble, Mister."

"Pick up the gun."

(He picks it up. Three shots ring out.)

"You all saw him - he had a gun."

19. I discovered Leary before I had ever heard of Hicks.
But now that I've listened to both, I realize that Leary is a cheaper and less talented ripoff.
