Thank you MASSACHUSETTS ! |
|
The willingness of its 2 senators to brave the evil republican mountain in leading the fight to filibuster Alito is just the latest salvo for progressiveness by this ultra-progressive state. Despite the governor's hissyfits the state has been the vanguard for gay rights as well as and many other liberal values. Boston made a millionaire out of Larry Bird, our self-described "Hick from French Lick." And oh yeah, wasn't there some sort of tea party a while back? Just me sayin: Thanks Massachusetts. Pile on the kudos DUers.

4. Well. Think of it this way . . . |
|
1. Ted Kennedy is considered by ignorant rightwingers as off-the-wall, anyway. That rhetoric is spoon-fed to them by those who eat off their ignorance. What's he got to lose? Nothing. Besides Ted deeply cares about our country. He's angry and he's a devoted public servant. Always has been too.
2. As for John F. Kerry? Kerry figures his better course is to tell it like it is about Sam Alito. This one isn't very difficult because Alito will prove everything that Kerry claims he is, once Alito is seated on the bench. Simple really.
Oh and btw, we, here, in Massachusetts don't have our shorts all twisted about . . . regarding rightwing social and culture crap. Neither Kerry or Kennedy will lose votes nor stature if they go for a filibuster! Quite the contrary, it will win them votes and prestige in Massachusetts.
Bring on the filibuster !!!!!!!! .

Though Kerry and Kennedy may be closer in age than I think, when they join forces and take a stand like that it reminds me of a father and his son (I wonder if that would have been the first JFK and John-John... things could've been so different!)

It isn't as if we have anything that could be mistaken for a reasonable senator to call our own at this point so I am going to adopt your, if you don't mind...

11. Agreed. I love Texas, but |

know you must be ashamed of that sly dunce Cornyn. And as for Kay Bailey H - she looks and sounds like there's a tape recorder inside her throat with the latest Karl Rove message looping over and over. I dont think the poor woman has a thinking brain of her own. Maybe Kinky will knock things loose down there.

I just sent email to both Kerry and Kennedy to thank them for being brave & patriotic Americans.
The Senators supporting this filibuster are upholding their oath of office: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God. "
Alito believes that the executive branch has extra-Constitutional powers, basically allowing the President to become king. As far as I'm concerned, he's a threat to our Constitution...

We would gladly take them here in Tennessee too! At least Big Al Gore is starting to get a little fired up. I think he finally grew his nads back!
