Rice on Hamas raises a whole new set of questions: |
|
LONDON (AP) - The United States wants other nations to cut off aid to a Hamas-led Palestinian government, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said ahead of an international strategy session on Mideast peace prospects. Rice ruled out any U.S. financial assistance to a Hamas government.
OK. So a Democratic election (done by themselves...for themselves) gets us Terrorists in power.
And we want to cut them off at the knees? Pushing them even further down the road toward regional martyrdom and the rise of Wahabbiism and insitutional terrorism????
Yet we want to spread democracy throughout the region???
What happens if this gets repeated in Saudi?
Seems that democracy does not solve their problems after all...or ours.
Time to go back and talk to Your Neo-con friends here George. These idiots can't see beyond the end of their noses.

1. democracy was never the goal. |
|
they lied.
the real goal was to create US-sympathetic vassal states or outright puppet regimes.

4. Actually - democracy is the goal. The alternative is a radical Islamic |
|
caliphate. Neocons backed puppet regimes for 50 years and it has come back to haunt them. People in the ME need a tradition of democracy - no matter what - or they will go Islamic. The Islamic groups are the ones actually helping the poor and taking care of people. Saudi money & US/West policy was to tribalize people to stop democracy.. and leave all the oil profits to the west by making sure only elites ruled.
Neocons very much want democracy. Not in places like South America. They seem intolerant of it there. But in places like the middle east - where there is a bigger threat? Yes.
Neocons want tribalism in the USA.
It seems the choice of tribalism vs. democracy depends on which democracies they want to diminish. And if the nature of the "elites" is becoming Islamic or not. In South America - they want the elites to have power. Cause there is no other elite.
Always the hypocrites.

6. I respectfully disagree. if that were true, they'd be pushing for Saudis |
|
to become democratic. In fact, most of our influential friends in the region are far from democratic.
you're missing the point, I think. The point is to have a US friendly region, either through vassal states, puppet governments or dictatorships.

7. I think they would trade a democratic state in Iran - that was secular - |

and easily bullied by big oil - for anything in the world. Saudis will never be anything but what they are. They are too rich and stop immigration. Saudis will hold elections and of course - overwhelming well funded oil parties will win, while devout wahabiism is handed to the poor on golden platter.
They do worry about Saudis falling. So going democratic in the way the USA is going democratic (elite power over elections) is they way they will go.

3. For the bu$h regime and the their neo-con co-conspirators Democracy is |
|
only OK if the party they support wins. The bu$h regime can't fix all elections world wide so when someone outside the control of the bu$h regime wins, they simply denounce them and try to punish them for winning in a democratic election.
Bu$h doesn't believe in Democracy and more than he is a Godly man, those are simply words they use to cover the evil beneath.
