What do you say to people |

Who say nobody from the northeast can be elected president? I hear this quite often and it annoys me. What would you all say to these people.

John Adam? John Quicyy Adams? To name a few. Or, how about that famous Texan from Connecticut, G.H.W.Bush?

3. Bush is from the Northeast, eh? |
|
LOL. But, of course, that doesn't count, since he campaigned as a Texan and as the "common man", not the elitist jackass that he is.

4. let me offer a caustic and jaundiced view |

The gop hate machine has been very effective in "educating" those in other parts of the country to believe those in the northeast are elitist snobs - PERIOD! The gop knows that more than likely a northeast politician will be a bonafide liberal, ergo "bad." Thus their "educational" machine. The gop knows their base; they know of the ingrained hatred in the hearts of these "christians" and how they are easily manipulated. They know the right buzzwords to use to get bubba fired up. Bottom line, me thinks a politician from the northeast is handicapped from the start because of the vast ignorance of those in other parts of the country. Sounds like a good answer to me. So instead of trying to counter the claim you point out, just agree with it, - yeah, you're right, there are so many ignorant motherfuckers in this country that no way someone from the northeast can get elected (in a fair election.)
Caveat: I'm hunting and pecking away in most likely the reddest of states - Mississippi. I know walking and talking ignorance when I see and hear it. All I have to do is drive into town.

Haven't had a Northeasterner since Kennedy. Hell, in all that time only Dukakis and Kerry have even managed to win just the nomination. Not sure where you'd put the two Bushes--they seem to have a lot more than just one "home" state, after all.
