Psychological Study finds Bush backers more biased against blacks
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/29/AR2006012900642_pf.html

This study showed that those who support Bush, or Republicans, are more biased against blacks than those who do not support Bush.

"The analysis found that substantial majorities of Americans, liberals and conservatives, found it more difficult to associate black faces with positive concepts than white faces -- evidence of implicit bias. But districts that registered higher levels of bias systematically produced more votes for Bush.

"Obviously, such research does not speak at all to the question of the prejudice level of the president," said Banaji, "but it does show that George W. Bush is appealing as a leader to those Americans who harbor greater anti-black prejudice."

Wow, what a surprise!! Are you as shocked as I am? The researcherss were, of course, accused to being biased themselves, since the researchers had given campaign donations to Democrats in the past (I guess when you are paying journalists and all, you expect that the Dems are paying people to say mean things against you too.)

And this, from Krosnick, a psychologist and political scientist from Stanford, who assessed the studies:

""If anyone in Washington is skeptical about these findings, they are in denial," he said. "We have 50 years of evidence that racial prejudice predicts voting. Republicans are supported by whites with prejudice against blacks. If people say, 'This takes me aback,' they are ignoring a huge volume of research."

6. Talked to RWer other day about why.

We both agreed: African-Americans are generally more conservative than the average. He asked why they don't vote Republican. I got a few seconds into listing various issues which cause blacks to believe Republicans hate them, and he quickly launched into a litany of reasons that Republicans take the position they do on those issues without waiting to hear why blacks took the opposite position. When he finally ran down, I just leaned back, smiled and said, "and you just demonstrated once again why blacks don't vote Republican".

15. The first thing that I thought
when I saw this was "Now theres a surprise".

I read a story about a black delegate to the republican national convention in Philadelphia.
Seems this black man was a delegate (don't ask me why) had all his I.D. tags on, standing in front of the hotel.
A bunch of white delegates arrive and tell him to take their bags inside.
How does he feel now?, and I wonder if he is still a repukelican?

Yeah, they like black folks.
