sfexpat2000 and I just came up with a new metaphor/meme/trope/shorthand in another thread.

The domestic terrorist threat within, needing to be monitored by the Pentagon and the government:

Quakers, Vegetarians and Grannies

Those who make the oatmeal, eat the oatmeal and serve the oatmeal are the internal threat to our democracy and the American way of life! WE MUST SPY ON THEM.

5. Red Alert for Oatmeal Bombs...

Warning: Such bombs have the potential for dispersing large volumes of Oatmeal powder such that trace amounts would pollute thousands of square feet--potentially important business districts in our major cities! The smell alone could attract dozens of birds, rats and even more destructively, roaches. Such areas could be uninhabitable for whole minutes.

Not to worry, the Department of Der Fatherland Security has spent billions developing Oatmeal detectors. We can rest assured that we've been kept safe from Oatmeal by our ever viligent government.
