The ACLU just called me!!! About the Pledge of Allegiance & my son!!!!
I was SO thrilled to finally hear from them! I sent a letter to my son's school superintendent and the ACLU over him being reprimanded for sitting during the Pledge of Allegiance. The teacher embarrassed him in front of his entire class and the ACLU just called me in response to my letter!!!!

He wanted to know if I had heard from the school or the teacher...NO, I haven't.:grr: I'm giving them plenty of time to act on this, I told him. He asked me DETAILS about what happened and wants to talk to my son on Thursday evening to get the info straight from him. IF I don't hear from the school by Thursday, ACLU will send them a letter!!!!! They will explain that it is my son's right NOT to stand for the pledge and he must be allowed to do so. He also said the ACLU takes THIS ISSUE VERY SERIOUSLY and will let the Superintendent know it!:)

Yes! I am so thrilled that they have answered my call for help and I just want to thank all of DU who helped me with this issue  I love you guys! and a BIG thank you to Sydnie who wrote my letter for me. You're the best! Here's the thread where the issue was discussed if you missed it:

They deserve our support.

7. One time I had an issue and the ACLU was very quick

to respond. They did legal research (it wasn't such a clearcut civil liberties case as this) and were very forthcoming.
They're a good group.

8. The law is on your side
Not a little bit, not maybe if it is interpreted this way or that, but whole hog. The law is on your side, and the ACLU knbows it.

9. Indeed. He was ADAMANT about my son being allowed
to go to school to learn and not being forced to say the Pledge. This teacher will never do this to another child or my son.
