Get it together people, *now*!!!!
Alito is over. Suck it up and move on. That's all we can do. Now is not the time to be chewing each other up. Now is the time to be 100% focused on the 2006 elections , Katrina-Gate and Spy-Gate.

It's done. OVER. Now is the start of another day. Lets make the most of it.

3. Unless we focus on winning the Congress back.....
It will continue to be over.... The Presidency is nice, but it is Congress that can stop this sort of nonsense

11. 2006
Agreed. The mid terms are very important. The Senate can make or break the 2008 Elections.
Focus must not be lost.

6. What difference will the elections make?
The Democrats elect more Liebermans? The Alito debacle showed just how weak our side is. We have too many Quislings. 2006 won't change that. I've tried to keep my hopes up, but today I saw behind the curtain. We are in bad, bad shape and nothing on the immediate horizon will change that.

7. I don't think I want to.
I have watched this stumbling debacle. I have watched the candidate I worked for get abandoned by the national party and by other traditionally Dem organizations to where she ultimately withdrew from the race. I have been attacked for my freely donated website for my county's Democratic party, by other Democrats. Including our state committeeman. Not repuke-lite enough.

I have some serious soul searching laid out before me.

Howard Dean is but one man and can only do so much. He is not a miracle working god.

I am not imbued with any sense of optimism at this point, for the future of this country or the Democratic party.

we hear the same thing everytime. We're beginning to sound like Cub fans (i.e., there's always next year). Do you seriously think anything is going to come out of Katrina-Gate and Spy-Gate? Looks like it's just time to turn around and bend over and take it like the subservient proles or fodder (like the Bush's like to call us) we are.

10. One month from now it'll be old news compared to the huge
amount of problems for Bush in 2006. We all know what the truth is and I still believe in this new age of the blogosphere. We now have learned a lesson about the power of the internet, and did all these petitions/e-mails/phone calls etc too late. We need to focus on protecting the blogs, fighting against voter fraud and fighting the propagandist techniques used against the American people for political gain and influence.

"They" had a head start in the media on this one. Trust me the Dems right now who voted for a vote on Alito did it with a bit of "shock and awe" over the incredible effort of the people to try to fight this. They struggle with the propaganda techniques of the right, and once again although some thought they had lost this battle, it is because they are as stunned as we are that America has become so delusional and a vote in a State election is a vote, no matter how delusional. They are anticipating the inevitable flood of negative ads from the right that only need controversy as a means to lie.

I love this site because not only does it explain almost every technique "they" use. Go to the home page to see what cause the research on this site was done for.

http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/index.html#index

I feel we the people are starting to figure it all out and have had enough. Our Senators are used to a legislative atmosphere ruled by these deceptive techniques. Some are beaten down and defeated, they are recovering from the political injuries of the last 3 years. We need to stand behind them in these times and let them know we understand, we forgive them, and we stand behind them for the greater cause of taking back our great nation.

We will NEVER give up!!! We are the people of America and we have had quite enough! Time for the next round, and we will win this time!

12. Touch your computer screen right now.
What you just did has as much of an effect on the 2006 elections as doing so on an electronic voting machine.

16. The problem is, we're so partyline that they'll do what THEY want, period.
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 06:51 PM by HypnoToad
Many DUers have said that if there's no opposition, they'd still vote for ____ anyway.

Many repubs have done the same thing from their side.

All that only tells our elected officials that they'll be voted for again, regardless of what they do.

For they are playing us all as chumps. Isn't that nice? x(

WE tell them via voting if we agree with them or not. If we don't agree with them, we vote them out.

It's as simple as that.

Vote for your major beliefs and deal with the minor ones later. If you don't like the candidate on the issues you find major, don't vote for them again! Otherwise they're not going to do diddles; they're happy where they're at. Are you happy with where they're at?

That goes for any official on either side of the fence. Vote for the best candidate. Not for one you *believe* will work for you. Chances are, they're not... and they'll prey on you to keep voting for them anyway solely because of the little letter attached to the end of their name.

Vote 3rd party or write-in if you must; but don't support repeat offenders. Like the bumper sticker says.

But the current system allows no responsibility or ethics, despite the amount of claiming they make during election years. And they will cajole for your vote. Looking at their records is our responsibility. And too many people don't. Again, on both sides. (mark Kennedy contradicted himself big-time in election 2004 and still won! Of course, too many people also said Patty Wetterling had no experience, so therefore people must prefer career politicians - the typical slur we keep hearing against those who have been in office for xx amount of years... :eyes: )

Mobius strip.
