Ask once before, will again: What have we stopped * from doing to date?
I am sure there are some things, anything would be nice.

A lot of real well organized and smart people here, so if you have a list(s) please share - cause on days like this we often only (well, at least me) look at it all and wonder - have we stopped anything??

On the UP side - we have gotten better, more mobile, and more influential in what we aim to do. More so each year. Losing battles is not losing the war, losing the war is when you quit and surrender.

Losing sucks, but total defeat would be unacceptable no matter how bad things got.

We don't win wars by crying over battles lost, we win em by seeing how we are losing battles and adjust (anyone here remember anything about the civil war and how that was going at first???).

And when we do win, I will tar and feather the son's of bitches on our side that start (continue in some cases) acting like they are on the other side of things. Today some dems sucked, but today most all the rethugs sucked as usual.

4. I think that was a red herring.
They really had no specific plan and although they wanted to destroy Social Security (and still want to), I'm not sure they expected to win that one.

6. Bush invested tons in that one
they wanted it, and they DID expect to win it. When Reid announced his refusal to negotiate, it was a surprise.``````

10. Fact of that is the media couldn't SPIN his plan into a victory for him.
Just like they couldn't spin Schiavo or Katrina as it was happening.

Hell, Bush will get away with not being held accountable now for Katrina because media is letting him get away with it.

5. stopped the Patriot Act
temporarily, at least. The fight isn't over on that one.

As someone mentioned above, ANWR. Again, that one will come up again.

And Social Security. This one is a more secure victory.

9. If we don't go after and expose the GOP control of media there is nothing
down the road for us that even resembles victory.

The GOP can have crappy poll numbers and electronic voting machines give them what they need to declare victory and media is there to explain for the public that Democrats "just couldn't get a message out" for some reason completely unknown to them.

Not just elections, but EVERY ISSUE becomes a win for BushInc because the fascists set this self-serving table over 20 years ago when they bought control over most of the broadcast media.

13. The AARP stopped SS privatization - not Senate Dems
That privatization bullshit wasn't going to get anywhere anyway, even among Republicans in Congress! It would have been political suicide for them with retirees and seniors.

15. aarp backed Shrub's MediCARE scam - I and 1000s Dems got out of aarp
over the MediCARE scam. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point.

16. I meant Social Security not Medicare
You're right that the Medicare prescription drug bill (with the no-negotiation price protection clause for drug companies) was endorsed by the AARP, but the Social Security privatization scam was opposed by the AARP, and the Republicans took note of that.

17. SS could have been privitized
the media was solidly on the side of privititization, they were declaring the battle all but over when Bush won the election.

The whores were dismayed when Harry Reid announced privitization was off the table.
