Yeah, yeah I KNOW he LOOKS like an elephant but Horton is a Donkey.
On his mission to discover the problem that seems to prevent us as Democrats from communicating in any understandable language to many every day people there is good news! Horton has found that the solution is much more basic then we ever anticipated.
Here's the problem he uncovered while dwelling in the lands of the unreal reality community and it is based on a simple lacking on out part; we complicate things. I am not claiming that we as donkeys are superior in our enunciations only that we are different but, as Horton discovered, "a person is a person, no matter how small".
The key to the puzzle is simple. Complications and grays are our enemies you see. WE see the complications of simple solutions. WE comprehend the grayness that lurks behind every single publicly flaunted black and white solution. The problem lays in our expectation that everyone understands the language of grays and complications when they do not. Our society has molded us to different degrees and many of us expect to be fed even the most complicated arguments and answers in one simple sound bite, which is not very compatible with our language of grayness and complications. We see the wisdom of looking at the whole of a subject and feel compelled to explain, rationalize and justify and we also feel that our audience is deserving of the information contained within our words. Well... Horton has returned and he is suggesting that we get over it.
Horton struggled with words to define his revelation in understandable, basic terms and after with much editing condensed it down to one simple sentence that is universally understood, respected and longed for. Horton is begging us for the sake of our country to clear our minds and erase all of out preconceived notions and repeat his lesson to ourselves 100 times a day until we get it right. Its simple and magical in it effectiveness and all it takes is devotion and a good editor.
Now … close your eyes and ears all and repeat after me:
SAY WHAT YOU MEAN, AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY”.!
See? It is simple.
