Policing teenagers the Ali G way

A message to the area's teenage trouble-makers

Warning signs aimed at young people and written in the style of the TV character Ali G have had a mixed reaction in Bristol.

Signs went up in an area of Kingswood plagued by vandalism and petty crime.

Roughly translated they say: "The police patrol this area and will pay your parents a visit if they find you are misbehaving."

Inspector Gus Krouwel said: "Young people understand text language. They speak the language and find it interesting and the challenge attracts attention.

"I suspect if you just put some plain language signs up it would attract very little attention at all."

But dissenters say the signs, which call parents "olds", are patronising.

2. What-Ever
Call me babaloo in a mumu, just don't vandalize shit. Whatever works. How do people find time in their day to even care what teen-agers are calling them.
