2. It's a decent movie and might be deserving but...
Why is this such "great news"? I see this as little more than something the right can use to manufacture controversy, really. You're going to see all kinds of critters crawling out from under their rocks blathering on about "liberal Hollywood" and "the homosexual agenda"... Get ready for a storm!

3. The Right is going to engage in pseudopopulism & homohate no matter what.
If we lie awake worrying about what the fascisti will think, we will be paralyzed.

The reason I think this is good news is that BBM is an excellent film getting the much-deserved acclaim that would have been denied it no so long ago, purely because of its subject matter. This does represent progress in a time when we're not seeing too much of that.

4. I've seen Brokeback MT and Good Night GL
I haven't seen the others yet

But if I could vote just based on those 2 I'd go with Brokeback (which isn't to say that I didn't like GN /GL, I did)

Better cinematography, fabulous acting throughout the entire cast, that's what tipped it for me

Both stories are compelling and really touch the audience

5. For the first time in a long time I have seen all five
Crash is terrific but was released very long ago. It has an uphill climb and won't make it.

Copote is very well acted and a good film but not great.

Munich is excellent. Important and well done.

Good Night is the second best of the five. Clooney did an amazing job with the archival footage.

Brokeback is the best overall film in that it is a film. It does what films do by taking you away to a time and place and evoking it perfectly. The aging of the stars is fantastic and the outdoor shots beautiful. Add in a sad but realistic screenplay and you have the best film.
