Charles Osgood on Hamas winning elections
I always prefer to refer to the US media as the US-state-controlled-corporate-media, because it appears too innocuous to simply call the US media the MSM. In all respects, the US-state-controlled-corporate-media is an active arm of the right wing agenda, mostly fostered from within the ranks of the Republicans and their public officials.

A case in point was recently demonstrated by Charles Osgood.

The radio station where I live that broadcasts Air America uses CBS News for its half hour news slot. On the Charles Osgood spot, I heard the most egregious commentary from Osgood that was an example of pandering to a political agenda, and was most unbecoming and lacking in journalistic integrity.

In the segment, Osgood explained the situation of Hamas winning the Palestinian elections. He prefaced the report by announcing that today's sponsor was the American Jewish Committee. No harm in that. The American Jewish Committee has a right to be sponsor, just as On Star does. However, Osgood's tone was filled with negative bias, and when he explained the position of Jimmy Carter, Osgood equated by using an outrageous hyperbole that this was the same as trying to deal with Hitler. Osgood stated this unabashedly.

For me, such media shilling only represents the defeat of those that no longer have the courage or convictions to stand by the principles of our Republic and those ideals representing the best of the fourth estate.

Here is Charles Osgood in his own words:

Yet there are some Americans, and former President Jimmy Carter is one of them, who hope, just as some hoped that becoming Chancellor of Germany would make a nicer guy out of Adolf Hitler, that winning this election will change Hamas.

President Jimmy Carter, Carter Foundation: "My hope is and my prayer is that this will be a moderating influence on Hamas, that they'll see with responsibility in a government itself, that they will moderate their position and forego violence and terrorist acts."

God help us all.

Hamas Victory In Parliamentary Election

Osgood, you're not only a hack, but also a disgrace. I fail to see how this supposed patriotism that is little more than jingoistic grandstanding does for our national interests and the global community as a whole, including Israel. Shame.

1. One Nation, Under PNAC . . .
Osgood isn't smart enough to come up with that himself, I would bet.

6. That is a stretch.
Demonizing Palestinians, Arabs and similar people of color, especially Muslims, isn't confined to AIPAC or necessarily arising from there.

It is practically a requirement for being on U.S. television. It is quite rampant even on DU, albeit in an underhanded manner.

2. Not much different than, say, hoping Alito is liberal, a la Souter.

People always hope for the best when the rest if out of our control. What else you gonna do, after the loss?

Very jingoistic.

BTW, Osgood is a screen name. It's not his real name.
