Did anyone watch the hearing on FEMA non action - Katrina? |
|
I turned the TV on VERY EARLY this AM (5:45AM EST). Susan Collins was charing the hearing, and it was apparently held yesterday, but overshadowed by Alito!
I know Susan is a Pub, but while watching her questioning the panel, I think I finally realized one of the KEY factors missing in most candidates...BOTH Dem & Pub!
Common sense and logic!
She's not a terrific speaker, but she asks direct questions, listens to the answer, then says "Yes, but if you realized the problem was too big for the local governments to deal with, wasn't it YOUR responsibility to take over?"
There wasn't any partisanship in her speech, no grand standing, just the kind of common sense that the average person can understand, and the kind that is nearly irrefutable!
That's what I think was missing in Kerry's speeches, in Gore's speeches, and in almost every other Dem I hear! They're ALL so worried about a politically incorrect slip, they never just TALK!
I can't find it being rerun on cspan, only the listing on the TV schedule this AM and $150 to buy a copy. Too bad. Maybe it will rerun some time that isn't listed yet. I guess it doesn't matter. We've all seen Susan chair other hearings so you should understand what I mean.
I think THAT is the factor we all find attractive in Paul Hackett, and what McCain USED TO HAVE!
WHERE are the Dem candidates that have that MISSING FACTOR????

Gore rules as a speaker and is numero uno in my book after his mesmerizing MLK speech.
Kerry isn't very warm and fuzzy, but he's gotten better recently.
