Is the Democratic Party sick, or just the Senate Democrats? |

I blame the Senate Democrats for the Alito fiasco. Not necessarily Harry Reid, though he certainly didn't seem very effective as a leader against the right-wing power grab of the Supreme Court. I think the Senate Dems, in general and with too few exceptions, are essentially old-school Republicans. They belong to that class. Their interests are best represented by the GOP. Very few of them have the fire in the belly to make the GOP eat dirt.
If I'm right, then the problem is not the party. It's a tiny but extremely powerful clique in the party, and it would be a grave mistake to make the rest of the party suffer for that cliques ineffectualness.
