What are your thoughts in regards to the Dems SOTU response?
Was listening to Springer this morning, and he brought up an interesting point. After *'s "dramatic address", Americans then get to see the Minority Party's response. Which is generally taped in a plain, darkly light room, with possibly a flag in the background. What Springer was conveying, is this approach really working. And I think I agree.

I believe a stronger response, would be in a more natural (real) setting. How about from the 9th Ward? Also have someone give a more emotional, and hard hitting response. IMO, something like that would really hit home with many more Americans today.

What do you think?

1. Sounds better to me.
I suggest that Will Pitt's call for a boycott (won't happen though, our leaders lack balls) is a better idea.

2. Is the location of the minority response dictated by some sort of rule? NT

8. Tim Kaine -- talk about Sominex ...
I'm with Arianna Huffington -- they should have gotten JACK MURTHA! If I spoke better Spanish, I'd listen to Antonio Villaraigosa's Spanish-language response instead (it'll still probably be more interesting).

I think the Minority "Response" ought to be an ALTERNATIVE SOTU -- not necessarily RESPONDING to what the reigning party is doing, but just putting forth their vision of what's happening in the country and where they'd like to lead it. It shouldn't necessarily follow the SOTU, either; it could be a "prequel" or even DAYS afterward, but with some time in between so it doesn't make the minority party seem so REactive, as opposed to the PROactive White Haus. And an audience wouldn't hurt, either!

5. Well, from what I hear Kaine will give a response that seems to be
almost conciliatory in nature which will stress bi-partisan management.

I think Dems may blow a good opportunity with this response. I'll wait to reserve final judgment until I hear it tonight but I'm not very optimistic at this point.
