Today is a scary day kids, James Madison's caution comes to life
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 02:45 PM by rustydog
" The accumulation of all powers, Legislative, Executive, and Judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.

Gore echoes this with his declaration:

"An Executive who arrogates to himself the power to ignore the legitimate Legislative direcives of the Congress or to act free of the check of the Judiciary, becomes the central threat that the Founders sought to nullify in the Constitution- an all-powerful Executive too reminiscent of the King from whom thay had broken free."

1. The operative phrase being
". . .reminiscent of the King from whom they had broken free. . ."

I saw Russ Feingold being quoted in rebuttal to Rove's stupid assertion that Dems had a 9/10 mentality that Repubs had a "pre 1776 mentality." That was priceless.

So according to my personal 9/10 mentality. . .

I thoroughly believe in many things. . .fairness in elections, "habeas corpus ad subjiciendum," that wars should never be based on a bogus casus belli and equally bogus intelligence (aka shear stupidity) from known extortionists (Chalabi who is now strangely running the Ministry of Oil in Iraq even though he got scarcely few votes,) or a bozo anonymous guy named "curveball," the Geneva Conventions, transparency and accountability in government, honesty in the media, that the truth even still matters in the face of total obfuscation, the eternal resiliency of our Constitution and Bill of Rights, that government is supposed to protect the people not the corporations, that surpluses are desirable and deficits are to be avoided, that two wars and an unprecedented slew of hurricanes could require some sacrifices from the wealthiest among us and not just the poorest, Hammarabi's Code( now stolen) , that the defenders of corporations and "unitary executives" should never be given lifetime appointments, that the rule of law is a noble parameter for behavior, or that we should never suffer more injustices under the current regime than the colonists did under King George.

For some strange reason, I spend a good deal of time on July 4, 2003 when it was more than obvious that we had totally blown trust with the Iraqis, rereading and amending the Declaration of Independence for current times. I dissected it line by line and it amazed me how similar the complaints of the Colonists against King George, paralleled almost identically the gripes of all progressive true souls about the most incurious George Dubious. Maybe I'll post that amended version for upcoming 230 anniversary of it's signing.

Though scholars have told me that all signatures did not appear on that parchment until late August of 1776. Guess horseback was slightly slower than e-mail. Other scholars have insisted that our nation was really formed on November 15, 1777, when the Articles of Confederation were signed. So go figure.

Stupid media who persist in acting as though we have a legitimately elected administration, also repeatedly says incessantly, "Dems have no plan," Well gee, I wonder why? Not that I have any faith in a two party dualistic system, but, they have no power whatsoever, because they don't own the voting technology nor the media. It is nothing more than a humongously insane ruse. A two party system simply doesn't work. It's so-o-o like a faux competition like Burger King & McDonalds, or Pepsi & Coke. Intractable gridlock was the only result of two party system, though there was at least, some compromise until checks and balances were completely nuked in coup of late '00. Eight tricks and soon more will soon solve. I swear. I have always been non partisan and dreamed idly of 12 parties.

There are far more than two points of view.

This once was the land of the lively discussion instead of spin and shouting matches. Canada has oodles of parties. Perhaps we could as well. Silly me.

Have a nice day

2. Here's another: Bob Barr regarding NSA spying

"The President has dared the American people to do something about it.
For the sake of the Constitution, I hope they will."

Maria Cantwell failed the Constitution and helped install a man (Alito) who believes in the Imperial Presidency.
America is under attack. From within.

4. That was one hell of a good speech and warning by Al Gore.
This is a trans partisan issue, and in my mind, a bigger threat to our national security than terrorism.

The mere fact that so many Americans have been willing to trade away their freedom for the illusion of security, is a canary in a coal mine crying out for more required history education in our schools.
