Does Anyone Know Anything About Australian Healthcare?

The last time I researched Australian Healthcare, the labor and conservative parties had worked out a compromise…whereby there was National Health Care for basic and catastrophic healthcare and then if you want any other type of services you had to purchase a health insurance policy.

Does this still hold for Australia? They have been battling for years over national versus private sector coverage…going back and forth depending on which party was in power.
