Bob Novak: "Americans don't want to pay for their healthcare..." |
|
Seriously, I heard our old pal Bob Novak say this on CNN yesterday morning when the bimboheads were talking about healthcare in relation to the SOTU. The bimbo asked Bob a question about what the president might say or something to that effect, and Bob's response was, and, I QUOTE:
"Americans don't want to pay for their healthcare, they want someone else to pay for it."
He then said something to the effect that this is what you always get with Democrats.
:nuke:
I had to rewind it to make sure I heard it right. Even my RW parents were aghast, and we were all yelling at the TV, "NO, BOB, we want to pay it - we just don't want to have to choose between medical care and our MORTGAGE or our DINNER! WE CAN'T PAY IT!" Etc.
Did anyone else hear this?
And, of course, the eye candy 'reporter', just changed to another equally vague and nonsense 'question' and went on, and did not challenge him on this at all. What a wanker.

One of like four people she was revolving these inane questions between.
AND, I guess he isn't an 'American', then?

It's just that with Dems, we expect to pay higher taxes on higher incomes, and want our taxes to be spent on the ones who can't afford to pay. That is common human decency, and it is also something the Christ they claim to follow would approve of.

12. I think everyone expects to pay for services of any sort. But the costs of |
|
healthcare so far exceeds that of every other service that yes, for some (especially the elderly) it is a choice between eating or getting life sustaining medications. Other countries manage to keep healthcare costs at a reasonable rate-but those nations don't have big pharma and insurance companies demanding that OUR money be given as handouts to THEM in the form of government subsidies. Regulation, also , can be a very good thing.

10. the liberal medias health care debate |
|
CNN said earlier that the media was the other side to the governments story and that was why america was so great cause we get to choose which propaganda we prefer most :)
The telecommunication acts gave away the media to about 5 people and thats life with big brother basically!
Of course those 5 people are really liberal :) lol
Want real news with real people: Democracy Now!
CNN, FOX, NBC, CBS, and ABC are all a from a mild brain washing!

But who died and appointed you as the spokesman for all Americans? You don't know what you're talking about. Grown ups (which eliminates the GOP, I'll grant you) know that you have to pay for things you get, and most grown ups don't mind paying a reasonable price for their goods and services.
But when people are paying $5,000 a year in health insurance premiums and the only benefit they receive are official notifications that they're not covered, then yeah, people don't want to pay for that. But health care coverage? Prescription coverage? Free routine doctor visits? Yeah, I'd pay $5,000 every year for that. Who wouldn't? Besides overrich fatheads with foul mouths who haven't paid a personal bill in decades, I mean.

|
Companies pay good benefits to get AND KEEP good people. In my corporate days, our statement of compensation INCLUDED BENEFITS as part of my COMPENSATION!
Medical care is NOT FREE. Health insurance is NOT FREE! You work your ass off for it. The just want to CUT YOUR COMPENSATION.
TANSTAFL
There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. You work your ass off for your benefits and your pay. You get NOTHING free.

15. Yeah, but the point is the system has been rigged |
|
American health care costs are the highest in the world. What good is having 500 doctors at your service if you can't afford to pay them unless you make a huge salary? The current system is unbeliveably complex, wasteful, overpriced, and confusing. The republicans seem to have forgotten some simple maxims of buisiness- You use size to your advange in negotiations. Simpler is better. Competition is good. Right now, in spite of all the crap we are fed, we have no real choices in healthcare, one huge HMO the same as another. And there are no incentives to cut costs.
Should the US become the same as the Third world? Actually worse, as health care costs are much less in those countries (although the quality is lower, also, in many cases).

17. Yeah, tell me about it |
|
Mr. Juajen had a pacemaker/defrib installed in his chest. Took a day and a half. Hospital bill was $77,800.00. Note this does not include the doctor's bill, which was another $10,000. Sure, I could pay that in a New York minute, or maybe a New York millennium or two. We all know that this is outrageous, yet medicare will cover all but $1,000 of this bill. Someone is being slightly overpaid. Gee, I think it might be the taxpayers, us, who are being cheated. Think about it, folks.

16. So health care SHOULD be only for those who can pay? |
|
Won't it come from our TAXES (which the last I looked was money), so we'll still be paying for it.
We just want to be "The Greatest Country in the World" once again...we're trailing far behind in many categories now, including health care. Health care is a national security matter also, just think if there is a killer flu here, it'll spread out of control, because those of us without insurance will just "stick it out" without care. This what helped collapse the Roman Empire, (yes even they had universal health care)it's when the money was shifted to the armies that the empire fell victim to the plague...

20. More sociopathic projection from those who profit from the labor of others |
|
The constant drumbeat of distraction and blame-shifting. Why the hell should people who work for a living have to pay a 50% premium for health care so people like Novak can collect profits? Profits on human misery! It's not the "health care costs" people object to - it's the predation of profiteers! We need a National Health Care system ... everybody pays, everybody benefits, and NOBODY profits!
