2. I see one Republican voted no. |
|
I have to give Chaffee credit for that.
I'm somewhat relieved Bill Nelson did not vote to confirm but still ticked off about yesterday.

10. His "explanation" of his support of Alito is pure bull |

It has to be the most twisted rationalization I've ever seen. http://byrd.senate.gov/newsroom/news_jan/alito.html

|
Actions are more important than words -- and he is a phony. Either that or the bushie spy machine has some really nasty stuff that he's been hiding. Hell what could be worse than being a member of the KKK?
In the end the good old southern boys retreat back to their bigotry.

7. Conrad, Johnson, and Nelson are DLCers |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 04:33 PM by Selatius
Unfortunate for the DLC that of the four who voted with the Republicans, 75% of them are members of the DLC. How will this fact reflect on the DLC in general? The people will decide.

Tough crowd.
Though, I kept trying to warn folks that he was inherently conservative.

Byrd could treat gays like total shit for decades and we were churlish to bring that up but let him vote for Alito and now he is evil incarnate.

Doesn't necessarily have to be the same people changing their minds. Could be a different set of folks being vocal about him.

22. Byrd is on his knees. |
|
I think he's too old to withstand much of the right wing slime and smear machine that he's facing in the campaign ahead. He has basically surrendered in hopes of appeasing the Nazis and being elected just one more time. Personally, I'd quit long before surrendering.
