We've been producing human-animal hybrids for a long time! They have even managed to breed to produce other hybrids. I mean, stopping them from breeding would be great, but how can you stop the rabid repubs in this country from breeding? They don't believe in abortion, remember?

I saw a NOVA show (PBS) recently in which a U.S. scientist showed he thinks he has found a way to start the human cloning procedure, but by manipulating the genetic code, or whatever, he tricks the embryo into never developing into a fetus. But you can still get the embryonic stem cells from the quasi-clone, to use for possible disease cures, etc.

But, since it will NEVER develop into a fetus, there's no "creating a clone and destroying a "baby" to get stem cells" problem. A Catholic ethicist was interviewed, and said he found it an interesting and acceptable way around the problem.

But Bush says no cloning of any kind? Just as a breakthrough is coming that could solve a lot of problems.
