Just got an email from Cindy
She is furious and told me the real story of what happened tonight. She was given a pass from Lynn Woosley and wasnt going to go and gave the pass to an ex vet and then the news found out about it and Cindy felt that out of respect she should go.She was escorted to her seat, got up and walked up several stairs to use the restroom and was sweating when she got back so she took off her jacket and some guy grabbed her and yelled protestor. They pulled her out of her seat and took her to a room and kept her there for an hour and then took her to jail where she spent 3 hours. She is sore from being pushed around and was in tears at the jail over what this government has come to and how hurt Casey would be by all this and she then began sobbing .It was just too much.
She is going to chek tomorrow to see if she can press charges

3. K&R I hope it's okay if I post this to my local groups...
... who are following Cindy's story.

Let her know she's in our thoughts. I'd be sobbing too if I had to go through that fascist exercise.

5. That is a crock
Look when someone protests someone protests. We cannot get hung up on this bull that it was her sweating and then all of a sudden she was wearing an anti-war shirt. This does not help us at all. If we are against the war we are against the war. To let this turn into a twist of words is a really bad idea. It makes it into a them vs. us situation where we loose. It turns it into a 'well we are against the war but this was the wrong arena.' Does not work.

9. Even as a low level college activist...
...in an unrelated matter, let me tell you, these T-shirts pile up fast. My whole torso wardrobe was political T-shirts. Why buy anything else when you get handed clothing for free?

I can totally believe that.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to DU!! :hi:

thats all. If she could have been in there you know she would have had her spot. And that would be good.

19. We live under a fascist government. They didn't arrest the purple
finger Republicans for there planned group political display and demonstration.

The whole thing is political. Why pick on Cindy other than they are fascists who can't tolerate even the suggestion of dissent.

10. I have a shirt...
...that says "1 million satisfied customers can't be wrong"

Would they interpret that as a "protest shirt"?

Or how about a pink shirt with the gay triangle and the statement, "I don't like bush"

Or how about just "Peace"?

Seriously, anyone who has a problem with this should be duct taped and rolled down a steep dirt hill, then be smeared in the press, and finally have all record of their existance wiped from the books.

Hell, why the f' not?

I DISSENT
FUCK BUSH

7. Could you clarify?
Sorry, I'm not sure I followed that. Are you saying she wasn't wearing a protest shirt, or that she had it on under her jacket but didn't plan to show it? And was the guy who grabbed her one of the cops (or whatever), or just a spectator?

All the stories I keep hearing are turning out to be wrong, but the one thing that they keep saying is that they told her to put her jacket back on, but she refused. Sounds like you're saying they never told her that, is that right? That would jibe with the photographer who said she had only been sitting for a minute or less when they grabbed her and pulled her out.

Thanks for keeping us informed on this.

12. Cindy is probably ALWAYS wearing a T-shirt of some sort with a message
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 03:49 AM by file83
on it, come to think of it. It's what she does, 24/7/365 is try and get the message out. So what was she supposed to do, sweat her ass off during the long boring speech, or do what normal people do and unzip your sweater. This is an absolute outrage. It is pathetic and anti-american for the SS to have treated her that way. It is undemocratic, unpatriotic, and downright ridiculous. That sort of behavior should not be tolerated by the Citizens of America.

Will no one speak up for Cindy? If political messages are not accepted at the SOTU, then Bush should have been escorted out as well.

16. She should go on Letterman's show.
He'd let her tell her story and treat her with respect. We should all email him to get her on.
