I like my new gov.
I like that he is a former missionary and that sticks it to the neocons who say we're godless fucks....

25. I believe you missed the point...
In his calm persuasive way, Kaine was clearly implicating the Republicans for the lack of bipartisanship. And he gave a good indictment of Bush policies

26. Please cite the passages from Kaine's speech
in which he "was clearly implicating the Republicans for the lack of bipartisanship." I confess that I detected no such 'implications.'

BTW, I'd like to mention that this forum is a standing joke among Democrats, and deleting messages that mock the administrators and moderators doesn't change that.

3. I thought he did a great job.
I called his office, spoke to a Julian who said he would pass the message along with my name to the governor.

I loved that he mentioned 'cronyism'.

5. Not near enough feces flinging for some
:eyes:

Yeah that will bring the masses to us.

Oh this might JUST MIGHT have something to do with the Senate race in 2008 and maybe the White House some day.

But we can't talk about that we want instant gratification like crack heads

14. So true....
You realize any Democrat who had been selected would have been a tremendous disappointment to the Kool Kidz....

And that for all their screams about "winning", they seem to hate Kaine most of all because he's actually won an election.

4. You are absolutely correct...
People are looking for mature adult leadership, not raving adolescence....Kaine projected that exact image. He made pointed criticisms of Bush, but did not come off as a flaming partisan. A+ in my book.

Mike Malloy's rage would have come in handy
that would have been entertaining and had people's
blood boiling over! (I know not realistic...but still)

8. On it's own it was not a bad performance, but...
...it was not what was called for given the current situation. We needed a fighter, someone with passion up there, not more conciliatory milquetoast. And there was something weird going on with his face/eyebrow.

And who cares if he is religious or not? Are we as democrats going to start discriminating on that basis now?

But that's no reason to take the comments as a slam against your governor. I'm sure he's a fine man and will be a good governor. A couple of years ago, they put up Gary Locke to give the democrats' response, another choice many of us disagreed with. But Gary Locke is still a fine man.

12. I don't believe he was being conciliatory...
He made several very pointed criticisms of Bush, including accusations of cronyism. What he did project, in converse to the righties, is sober, adult, mature leadership. I think that is what people are looking for.

15. Well, this is you guys' thread, so I won't belabor it.
You're certainly entitled to give your guy some attaboys for a well-delivered speech.

But the eyebrow thing was a bit distracting...

11. I thought he was a nice contrast to Bush
He came across as positive, competent, sincere and smart. I think that will go a long way with Independents and moderate Republicans.

17. Most people here agree with you.
My earlier poll:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=292882&mesg_id=292882
Shows that 65% of DU-er liked it and 30% didn't.
(I know its not really scientific, but it confirms my suspicion that about 30% of DU is more radical than I)

20. It was very well done - for the first time I felt hopeful
Tim delivered a message for and to Americans of all political stripes - it wasn't delivered by a partisan senator to his base but to all Americans. Service, competence and results is something all of us want and something the administration fails at completely.

23. He did a good job. I like the Dem's new way of saying...
that we will talk about religion our way now, not their way. I was uncomfortable with the idea at first, but I am seeing it in play now. I kind of like it.

We are stealing their biggest issue out from under them.
