Tax Holiday
How the nonsensically named American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 allowed Ford to slash jobs while reaping huge job-creation tax benefits.

Jan. 24, 2006 - It's almost enough to make you laugh—bitterly, of course. Here was Ford Motor Co. announcing yesterday that it had cut 10,000 jobs last year and that it will cut up to 30,000 more. But shedding jobs at muscle-car acceleration rates didn't stop Ford from pocketing hundreds of millions of dollars courtesy of the American Jobs Creation Act.

1. That's $250 million in taxes that could have helped us somehow!
Pocket change for the BushCo, but hey, if nothing else, it could have been put against the deficit. This is the kind of result that comes from all their policies, which are obviously named through seances which channel George Orwell.

Oh, and what's up with Newsweek? They've been doing some journalism lately!

3. Don't forget the Billion dollars in AMT that was refunded to Ford
a few years back . . . you know, to help out the "small businesses" . . . of course, the money had absolutely no strings attached, no instructions on how they were to dispense the $$$ . . .

4. Oh, well, I guess he might as well hand all the tax $$ to the rich
Since, as Bush informed us last night, the poor and elderly are ROLLING in the free health care, and since he's going to cut another hundred something million in "non-security" programs.

Probably those laid-off Ford workers will be the first to figure out where the cuts are coming from . . .

2. Orwellian
war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.

What gets my goat is that the reason we have books like 1984 is to warn about this mindthought, yet here we are again.
