The Case for Joe Biden (no, this is not an Onion spoof)
A long time political consultant argues that the senior senator from Delaware is the Democrat’s best shot
Web-Exclusive Commentary
By Ron Goldstein/Newsweek
Updated: 2:43 p.m. ET Jan. 31, 2006

Jan. 31, 2006 - There are several ways we choose our presidents. During the primaries, we may vote for the person who looks as if he or she will perform best as a candidate—someone who “looks” presidential, who seems savvy with the media and who will represent our best interests. At the last moment, we might pick the candidate who seems to have the best head of steam—the person who could actually win. Others vote for the candidate they believe would make the best president, based on intellect, personal skills and public-service experience. Still others vote on single issues—abortion, taxes, defense, foreign policy, education, moral values, health or the environment. A final group casts its ballot for geographical reasons, the “home state” or regional candidate.

18. Maybe they're pushing Biden to make Hillary more palpable
Final answer....NO..neither. Either would create a surge of people sitting on their hands or voting third party.

7. The reasoning:
"Unlike Howard Dean, his outrage and passion is controlled, not manic. His voting record is appealing to centrist America: According to the National Journal, his liberal to conservative voting on social and foreign issues is in the 60-30 range."

And people wonder why Dems have lost so many elections recently?

9. His outrage and passion may be controlled, but his ego is manic as fuck
What would Joe Biden do if he could never look in a mirror for the rest of his life?

8. Joe Biden would lose to Dennis Kucinich
No, seriously. I'm not a Kucitizen or whatever, but Biden is so abjectly pathetic that I think our "fringe" candidates would stand a better shot.

12. I heard Biden when he came to TN back in the fall
he spoke at our Dem Leadership Summit. Oh, he can sure talk the talk when the doors are closed and it's a room full of Dems, but I sure as hell haven't seen any action.

14. One thing he forgot to add. Shortly after the plagerism scandal,
Joe was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was not cancer and he recovered completely. I don't know if the bad judgement was a result of the effects of the brain tumor or not. Either one could cause trouble for the guy. We don't know if he wrote the stolen speech, or one of his aides, either way, it can be used against him.

Anybody but Biden, after he ridiculed the filibuster but announced he would vote for it once. He also agreed with Imus that Kerry calling for it from the ski slopes was odd. (and he SHOULD HAVE SAID untrue). He (with others) botched the hearings - I know he's Irish Catholic, thus he never considered Princeton, but there were likely at least 2 or 3 important questions he could have asked. When he was yuking it up with Imus, he could have been trying to convince the gang of 14 that Alito was worth filibusting,

All and all, if he can't take his job as a Senator with sufficient seriousness, why should anyone consider him. But, this guy is clearly reaching with his Biden suggestion - "He's not a bad looking guy" Compared to what?
