Why the bastards can't really win in the long run... |

1. the other reason they can't win in the long run is that eventually . . . |

Republican policies will start harming average Americans in ways they can't even imagine yet . . .
they'll start waking up when their kids start getting drafted, when the value of the home falls 50% and the equity loan gets called, when job outsourcing becomes epidemic, when their HMOs and health plans no longer pay for their drugs, when their pensions disappear, when Grandma's Medicaid gets cut off, etc. . . and when they start learning the truth about 9/11, about election fraud, about depleted uranium, etc. . .
regardless of party or political orientation, there's only so much that Americans will put up with . . . unfortunately, the majority haven't reached that plateau -- it just doesn't hurt enough yet . . . but they most assuredly will -- and sooner rather than later . . .

2. Bush is leaving a horrible mess for someone else to clean up |

The massive deficits, instability in the middle east, and so on.
I can envision the cleanup job being blamed on the Dems, and with the clueless way the Dems have been operating they will probably be helpless to unspin it.
