The Dutch voted "YES" on sending 1400 troops to Afghanistan |
|
It was seen as as crucial to the future of Nato, the 1,400-strong force will be under UK command
How spineless!

1. Lots of people still separate Afghanistan from Iraq. |
|
I supported our attack on Afghanistan at first too. Since then I've incorporated MIHOP/LIHOP into my world view, but most people cannot get their minds around the level of treason that implies, so they aren't there yet.

That's why the UN and a lot of other countries are in there.
There was no justification for Iraq. That's why the US and Britain supply 99% of the troops there, without UN support.
I don't fault the Dutch for supporting the United Nations mission in Afghanistan.
I do fault any nation that spports Bush's oil-grab in Iraq.

4. Canada went into Afghanistan, not Iraq. There is a difference. Taliban |
|
let bin Laden bomb innocents. Gave him aid & comfort even after houndreds of Africans had been killed in bombs.
Most of the world agrees that Afghanistan needs help to maintain peace. And that they deserved to be toppled for lack of human rights and sponsoring terrorism.

5. I think a lot of countries send a token force... |
|
... to "blood" their troops. That is, to expose some of their troops to limited combat. Somebody in the Japanese... or Dutch... army needs to have some combat experience.
