Media largely ignored Fitzgerald revelation White House may have destroyed
destroyed emails.

http://mediamatters.org/items/200602020012

"..special counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the lead prosecutor in the CIA leak case, wrote that numerous White House emails from 2003 are missing from White House computer archives. A Media Matters for America survey of coverage following the publication of Meek's article found that major news outlets have -- with only a few exceptions -- ignored this story."

5. No.
It makes the Media an Unindicted Co-conspirator. Seriously, they have no interest in amplifying a story that is obviously a major relevation to the Plamegate prosecution. They passed on the 2000 Election, 9/11, Iraq, 2004 eletoral fraud, and Republican corruption....for all intensive purposes, the Mainstream Corporate Media is the informational arm of the Republican Syndicate.

7. You described it perfectly. No democracy can be returned to DC until we
bring back democracy in the newsrooms.

10. I know this sounds Pollyanna-ish but I encourage everyone
to use congress.org/media to email the corporate media - networks and specific shows stating your specific criticisms. Congress.org has a Browse Media section that really makes it easy to email networks and specific shows.

I know it seems like a small thing but I think if enough people start speaking up and saying we know what they are doing - it WILL start to have an impact.

I still believe it's worth trying.

4. Give the mainstream media time.
They're still polling to find a sector of this country who will give Bush a blip on his poll numbers after the SOTU.

Fitz starts issuing indictments like candy. Oh, I relish that thought!

9. Some days I want to slap the sh*t out of the media
and ask them when they're going to start doing their damn job. We've got plenty of cheerleaders for this administration. What we need is some TRUTH.

13. You know, this may be a good thing
Patrick Fitzgerald's nationally live broadcast press conference in October was a sensation. The next one will be, too. Let him get on TV again and explain exactly why he's just indicted most of the members of the * administration on whatever it is he's indicting them on. (I'm crossing my fingers for conspiracy, obstruction of justice and destruction of evidence, but I'll take whatever it ends up being.) Maybe it's best that he's working under the radar right now.

17. No, he very carefully said he didn't think they were relevant to the
charges that this defendant was indicted under - which leaves plenty of room for (1)other charges and (2) other people indicted

Fitz is one smooth operator.

22. yes indeed, and also, it's a non-story
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 01:05 PM by librechik
if evidence is found-- that is a story. If evidence that might be there is simply not there, that is NOT a story.

This story needs a story, like "Whistleblower admits destroying evidence" or Cheney says "so what, try and get me anyway." Some actual realtime event that can be reported.

It's just an excuse for the media, but it's a good excuse.

this is a hot moment in political history and the media is purposely ignoring it. They know that this has all the markings and tag lines of a deep shit point for the moron*.
