Where is Neil List and where is the DU Activist Corps?
Have they silenced the wonderfully funny and contemplative works of Neil? The DU Activist Corps was gone before I became a member at DU but I will not let their memory die.

Some days I feel like just tossing in the towel and calling it quits, when I see freepers continue to kick up boards bashing Christianity, which only cost Democrats much-needed moderate votes in Nov. Here's what a DUer wrote a couple of days ago.

The Concert

When the house lights dimmed and the concert
was about to begin, the mother returned to
her seat and discovered that her child was missing.

Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights
focused on the impressive Steinway on stage.
In horror, the mother saw her little
boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out
"Twinkle,Twinkle Little Star."

At that moment, the great piano master made
his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and
whispered in the boy's ear,

"Don't quit." "Keep playing."

Then, leaning over, Paderewski reached
down with his left hand and began filling
in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached
around to the other side of the child,
and he added a running obbligato.

Together, the old master and the young novice
transformed what could have been a frightening
situation into a wonderfully creative experience.

The audience was so mesmerized that they
couldn't recall what else the great master played.
Only the classic,
" Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."

Perhaps that's the way it is with God.
What we can accomplish on
our own is hardly noteworthy.
We try our best, but the results aren't always
graceful flowing music. However, with the
hand of the Master, our life's
work can truly be beautiful.

The next time you set out to accomplish great feats,
listen carefully. You may hear the voice of the
Master, whispering in your ear,
"Don't quit." "Keep playing."

May you feel His arms around you and
know that His hands are there, helping you
turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces.

Remember, God doesn't seem to
call the equipped, rather, He equips the 'called.'
Life is more accurately measured by the lives
you touch than by the things you acquire.
So touch someone by passing this little message along.

May God bless you and be with you always!

and remember,

"Don't quit."

"Keep playing."

3. have you ever heard of the DU Activists Corps?
When I first came to DU there was a board wondering where the activists went... Then, some freeper-like person came on the board and started insinuating threats toward me and other posters on the board. The individual implied we might ALL be sent to Cuba... Even a very young ghost doesn't take threats lying down.

By the way, I just posted my 1,000 on another board and I'm not ashamed of ANY previous postings. Certainly, I made several mistakes but always showed the character to apologize when I made them. Whether others agreed or not, I defended my beliefs and our fine Democratic Party every chance I got. I pledge to keep up the good work... We may not always agree but I'll defend your right to disagree.

5. where did they go?
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 02:27 PM by Jeffersons Ghost
I'm VERY interested in activism and I heard of them only once, when I first joined... If you watch my posts and boards you'll see what I tend to advocate... here's my most recent:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2433657&mesg_id=2433657

While it doesn't advocate activism in the OP... It carries the theme throughout the board in my subsequent posts.

Since you know what I generally advocate, you must also know how fuc#ing mad that brutal Nazi attack on a woman with the guts to protest made me feel... What you achieve with this toon is timeliness in it's purest form. Speaking of "forms," I thought I was going to have to start quoting Plato to get you to post. Did you open the link on this thread? It looks like someone grabbed your idea of Dur Fuhrer on Jeopardy and put a bunch of animation with a concept you introduced... Check it out... If you have cable or DSL, it loads fast but dial up users may have a problem with stuff this big.
