Could we get control of the message using a DUer tag team?
Okay, so I`m trying to be optimistic. One of the deepest black holes in the Democratic Party`s strategy is the ability to formulate a cohesive message and have it heard. Republicans have been masterful at controlling the nation`s dialogue through the use of catchy phrases and hijacked rhetoric.

It`s not the choir we should be singing to, it`s the fence-sitters. We should accept that we can not rely on mainstream media for a fair and accurate airing of our positions. After looking at our collective commitment around the Alito nomination, I have to believe we could be a constructive force in the task of getting our message heard.

This morning I imagined a DUer`s tag team, with even a handful of determined people who would be willing to work together to combat the lies and half-truths spewed by a savvy Republican spin machine and their slavish echo chamber counterparts in the media. We could work out the particulars, but simply start with an agreement to do something. Take the domestic spying issue. The White House has REFRAMED that debate by telling Americans it`s a necessary program to catch terrorists. So, citizens once again get to decide if they`re with Bush or with the terrorists. It`s about the warrants, not the terrorists and that`s the message we need to repeat through message boards, emails, letters to editors, phone calls, polls, bumperstickers. Since Republicans have control of everything in Washington, nothing much will happen unless we make a lot of noise.

Do you think it`s possible to start a DUers "tag team" where a few of us get the ball rolling on our message, come back here, report in, then encourage other members to take the lead and do his/her part? Could it work? Is there anyone out there who`s willing to give this a try?
