Its the simple way that will win in the end. |

I read these boards for over a year before posting. I watched as an outsider heads spinning and spinning as to what to do to stop this Administration from ruining our country.
The answer is not in the Vote, or waiting for a leader with backbone. THe answer is right in front of us, and the many little turds they are paying to keep you spinning daily and keep all of you smart people from rational thought.
The only way to stop them is th ru the pocketbook. The Civil Rights movement started there and will continue there.
We have to stop buying their crap. We could start with a simple boycott, take down one at a time, I actually think this would be best. Someone come up with a product that we wont touch, something we can live without but after awhile will hurt their bottom line.
One thing that comes to mind is the stupid Bank Cards, Credit Debit you name it.

I love my debit card and online banking. I certainly won't part with it for a political statement. Also, who is the "they" in your proposal? I think that economic boycotts don't work unless the target is a small entity as in your example of the bus system in Montgomery. Additionally I worry that economic boycotts can often hurt the very people we need to embrace...the working and middle class. It wouldn't make much difference to the fat cats.

2. The first response to your thread is why it won't work--- |

People are diverse and one person's trash is another's treasure.
We have to boycott the media, I am not sure how, but until THEIR huge coffers are affected, nothing will change.
I am half way there!!!! 500 posts.:bounce:

3. The "media" is a monolith |

and goes to my point and your point too. One person's trash is another's treasure. Personally I think the best ways to 'win" are all those traditional things that have worked in the past, ie voter registration, active support of the local Democratic party, support good candidates, give money within your budget to those candidates and groups who help, write cogent and thoughtful letters to the editor, etc.
I hate the term sheep, but in some ways I think a lot of people just vote with the herd. If enough people express the Democratic viewpoint, then it will be seen as the popular thing to do. I'm not above manipulation at this point. We have to win...it's too important not to.

"I love my debit card and online banking. I certainly won't part with it for a political statement"
Doing without this would not inconveince people THAT much. Think of the Black people in Alabama walking 10miles to work to boycott the busses in their day. It was inconvienent but they valued their civil rights enough to do it.
We have grown to lazy to care.
Boycotting the banks for one week by not using thier cards would impact them all. ALl the politicians, all the big busines, they all make money every time you swipe that card.
Do you think boycotting the busses only hurt the bus lines? NO they lost thousands a day until it was hurting gas companies, and the town itself.
I think this is a simple thing that wouldnt put anyone out of work. And a peaceful way I might add.

On 1 December a local African-American woman named Rosa Parks is arrested for refusing to surrender her bus seat to a white passenger. Black activists form the Montgomery Improvement Association to boycott the transport system and chose King as their leader. The boycott takes effect on 5 December. That night King addresses the protesters.
"We have sometimes given our white brothers the feeling that we liked the way we were being treated," he says. "But we come here tonight to be saved from that patience that makes us patient with anything less than freedom and justice. ... Our method will be that of persuasion not coercion. We will only say to the people, 'Let your conscience be your guide'."
The boycott continues for 381 days until the Montgomery buses desegregate after the US Supreme Court declares Alabama's segregation laws unconstitutional.
