NYS Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno (r) calls for immediate withdrawal
from Iraq!

Hello DU! Yesterday, the third most powerful man in NYS politics called for an immediate withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. In doing so, he puts himself to the left of Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schuemer, and (Democratic gubernatorial candidate) Eliot Spitzer.

I think that this is good news. What say you, DU!

1. Seems as tho he has a better pulse of the people than Hillary.
Then again, he doesn't call the local TV stations to announce that they can film her going to church, either.

2. sure he does.. all politicians do...
But Hill, Chuck, and Elliot were all Bush ass kissers when it came to Iraq. They still are. Now the GOP has out flanked them on the left.

4. it's no longer a matter of left vs. right . . .
it's a matter of common sense, and doing what's right (correct) both for this country and Iraq . . .

9. love your avatar
I like to ask pro occupation folks (both Dems, like Spitzer, and GOP, like Sue Kelly), "When can we leave Iraq? We know that they do not have WMD. Rep. Murtha and Sen Bruno feel that we have done our military mission, and should leave now. I think we can only leave Iraq when they have a Burger King and a Hooters fully operating in Baghdad. What does a stable Iraq look like to you? When do you think that we will be able to leave Iraq?"

Squirmy!

6. He did not say immediately - He said as soon as possible and certainly by
next year (2007), which makes him in line with a series of Democrats in the house and the senate (dont know about Hillary) and a number of Republicans.

Bruno distancing himself from White House
February 2, 2006 at 6:26 pm by James M. Odato

Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno isn’t following President George W. Bush’s camp when it comes to the war in Iraq. The Korean War veteran and Republican keeps talking about the need to get out as soon as possible no matter what the president says.

Bruno’s latest: “You can disagree with where he is on Iraq. A lot of people disagree but he’s doing what he thinks is right. Frankly, I think it’s time, like most people think, for him to get the troops out of there and bring them home…because you’ve won the war in essence, they’ve had two free elections and now it’s all guerilla warfare and that’s going to go on for a lifetime. That’s a religion. That isn’t anything you’re going to solve in open war. So I think that somehow he has got to extricate…he ought to get the troops home by next year.”

10. sorry for the inaccurate confusion
He is still leaps and bounds ahead of most Dems! I am really proud that he is not toeing the white house line, like so many Dems are.

12. But of course, rucky!!!
Haven't you heard the WH repeating "regime" over and over again with reference to Iran -- in my mind that's a sure sign they've got them lined up for the next "regime change." Maybe I'm too cynical.
