Attorney General Gonzales' testimony for Monday - cartoon
Here is it.

In one cartoon, we summarize the entirety of Attorney General Gonzales' testimony before the Senate Monday, and his defense of illegal spying on Americans by the Bush administration.

3. It's pretty easy to boil it down to that, isn't it?
It's such a bogus argument.

4. Hey Straight Shooter! Always good to hear from you!
The Bush regime's trampling of civil liberties and drive to turn America into a vision of Bush's Republican Homeland is this week's theme.

He's the gravest danger to America since Joe McCarthy and his reign of terror took place.

7. Hey Nutmegger!
I always look forward to your smilies!!

Some of these practically write themselves.

You know Gonzo's go-to line will be "if Al Qaeda is calling anyone, we want to know who it is."

8. Another truth toon
Thanks again, Neil, for the truth. Toons can cut straight to the heart of the matter, and make an impression even for people who don't have time to read in depth editorials. Well...I'm not talking about the cartoons at the center of the current controversy, but you know what I mean.

11. I agree, ninkasi. I think of most of the cartoons as editorials.
It's a snapshot of a thought, and it's so much more powerful than simply saying the same thing in prose. Poems and songs do likewise, because they carry the message deeper into the mind, and with more lasting impact.

I think that's why they cause so many more tremors than merely saying or writing the same thoughts.

Political cartoons have a rich, rich history in American life. They are MILD today compared to what they were like in the 1800s.

15. Team Bush relies on THE BIG LIE!!
They make up the story they think best sells whatever wrongdoing they're trying to cover up, then repeat it ad nauseam, knowing the media will repeat it without scrutiny.

20. Here's the really biggest LIE
"...avoid the necessity of those overgrown military establishments which, under any form of government, are inauspicious to liberty, and which are to be regarded as particularly hostile to Republican Liberty." -- George Washington

19. The issue is the warrants!
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 03:24 PM by dubya_dubya_III
If you are afraid to pro actively seek a warrant, it is still illegal if you do not obtain one afterwords.

The 72 hour later warrant is the only specific protection we have from the unconstitutional and criminal abuse of these unconstitutional and criminal "permanent national military establishment" powers, not only by the unconstitutional secret military establishment administration but especially by those with the unconstitutional "jobs" of secret investigation and their secret supervisors and more secret noble elite military industrial mafia bosses.

24. Tuesday's cartoon will also address Gonzales' testimony

After watching several hours of today's testimony, and seeing Gonzo dodge the money question about the widespread data mining by NSA of tens of thousands of Americans, I decided to write a new one for Tuesday.

It will go up in one hour. Here:
