Wes Clark was in L.A. Saturday-A Commentary
Wes Clark had a rally in the morning for Dem. Congressional candidates, and a WesPac fundraiser in the evening. I was able to attend the WesPac event and took away some incredible memories. Once again I was impressed by the man's affability and dry humor, yet struck by his steely resolve in offering leadership in reclaiming our country from the assault by Bushco. He has an amazing depth and breadth of knowledge and thought. When asked about the domestic spying, he gave one of the most fiery, passionate, and eloquent defenses of the Constitution, our laws, our heritage as a free nation as I have ever heard. I wish he would be more impassioned like that in his TV interviews and said so. Remember Clark's speech to the Dem. Convention? I really feel that,if it's the '08 primary season, that kind of passion will attract Dem. voters (most of us) who are sick and tired of Republican-lite and other spineless, gutless wonders. This is the person to lead us out of the wilderness.
For a more eloquent and in-depth commentary than mine, read WesDem's discussion on the Clark Supporters' forum.

1. I read most of the famous Blogger's reports on this meeting
and they really were very complimentary of Clark and where his head is at!

Save American Democracy...
...How!? General Clark no doubt has the intellect, courage, wisdom, and level of national standing that gives him access to information the vast majority of citizens do not. Knowing that and his past dedication to this nation and its better nature I have to give his words broad latitude in todays battle over truth, justice, and the real American way of life. That General Clark is willing to put his personal life in focus for the rethugs to target and attempt to distroy is further proof of his dedication to our nation. Before reading the text of this meeting I listed GenClark as one of three candidates of equal magnitude to win in '08. Now I believe he is the point man. If he survives the run up, he will win it all.

Our nations quality of life is based on the rightousness of the people.

Clark: They picked the two-foot rattlesnake in a box

I spent the whole day today at events with General Clark--first the one I wrote a diary about yesterday (and I was at the blogger meeting with Arianna Huffington, which was a treat!!), and then later on in the evening, a fundraiser for WesPAC in Culver City.

I could spend all day writing about how fantastic the general is--his intellect, knowledge, message and genuine depth of feeling are all outstanding--but I wanted to share with you one brief story from the fundraiser that shows just how good the General is, and why he needs our support. MORE....

That's right! At least some leaders are willing to defend our form of government, WITH PASSION.

it seems like only Wes Clark, Howard Dean, and Al Gore are really taking it to the Rethugs.

11. xkenx, You've just enunciated "the Holy Trinity." A mystical concept
that will get us through these dark days. They will be the undisputed leaders of our party soon, I hope!

My favorite excerpt:

"I, and Kossacks Hekebolos, Alysheba, and Shockwave who were also there, can say with conviction, that not only is Clark no DLC shill, you will be amazed by how truly progressive his policies are."

It sounds like it was an unforgetable night. Kudos to all who were there and blogged or posted about it. I am so happy to hear about his fiery, passionate condemnation of Domestic Spying, among other things... Go, Wes!

12. Thank you for the "Progressive" comment
Not enough people associate progressivism with someone who was a military leader. But Wes Clark was not your typical military Neanderthal. His views/positions are among the most creative and forward-looking of any, and they come from a big heart.

5. Clark's really giving us our Dem strategy here......
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 01:15 PM by FrenchieCat
Cause we can't run away from the GOP Trump Card....coz it trumps just about any and every issue that the Democrats attempt to make on just about everything else wrong with America!

More from "Reality Bites back".....
"I made the point that a proportion of the electorate was wired, through conditioning, so that any attack or threat to the nation would default them into the Republicans' hands. His response was quick, and deliberate: 'the Democrats need to get out there and engage the Republicans head to head on national security! We need to take the fight right to them! The Democrats need to make that the focus of their being; that the Republicans, who have so completely sacrificed the security of this nation through incompetence and willful indifference have not only failed to secure America, they have unified our enemies, depleted our resources and stretched our military to the brink. All before the watchful eyes of the world and our enemies. Enemies that will now see America as more vulnerable in the inability of our leadership to succeed.'

His passion was clear and real. `If the Democrats were in power,' he strenuously argued, `we would have gone after Bin Laden, we would never have wasted over $200 billion of the nation's wealth, we would never have ignored the threats of North Korea and Iran, we would never have ignored Putin's power grabs and suppression of Russian Democracy, we would never have completely ignored China's growing economic threat, and we would never have undertaken a policy of such ill repute that it creates more enemies in the world than friends. Only by directly engaging the Republicans on national security,' he stressed, `can the Democratic Party hope to win.'
-------------
Some may not want to hear it....but the man is right! If we avoid the issue that is the only "strong" point to their majority, we cannot win! All they have to do is "find" a Bin laden Tape, issue an Alert, or Bomb Iran....and all other issues become Moot. National Security is the Republicans' excuse for doing all that they do against the American people. We must see that and attack them on their territory!

We are fighting for our Democracy, and we must, we must confront the enemy on their lying bullshit of them "keeping us safe".....cause they ain't!
