New Frame: From now on, these panic-stricken weenies are: "Bedwetters"
Although it may be construed as an insult to toddlers everywhere, we in the Bloggosphere should run with a new moniker for our outspoken friends on the Right Wing: the "Conservative Bedwetters." From this point forward, the terms "Conservative", "Right Wing" and "Bush Supporter" should nary be typed, intoned or emailed without this new and permanent modifier. This image--one of a sturdy White Male peeing himself out of uncontrollable FEAR-- needs to become an irrevocable part of our National Debate during the run up to the Midterm elections.

And Good Gawd...What Fun it will be!

Rove has announced that they will run in November by convincing their mousy,faint-hearted supporters that only Bush--THE GREAT PROTECTOR-- can save them from the TERROR... and that all extra-legal means are necessary to SAVE their quivering, spineless, Red State wimps from instantaneous, fiery death. Alas, in this effort Rove has many footmen in the MSM who are more than happy to spin the yarn, viz:

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/01/21.html

Fear-mongering is the one and only weapon which Bush followers use time and again to solidify their support. When Karl Rove says, as he did , that "national security" is going to be the centerpiece of the GOP pitch leading into the 2006 elections, what he means is that they are going to spend the next 10 months doing everything possible to scare Americans as much as possible so that they once again dispense with all other issues and throw themselves into the arms of the party which promises to be their Protector.

One often-overlooked fact in all of these discussions about the Bush-worshiping biases of national journalists is that most of them live in New York or Washington, DC -- the two cities attacked on 9/11 and two of the most likely cities to be a target of future attacks -- and, consequently, they are frightened out of their minds by The Terrorists. These are people who are largely coddled, effete, and isolated, and so many of them are still so clearly plagued by the post-traumatic stress of 9/11 and are driven into Bush’s protective arms because they are petrified.

Chris Matthews –- who sat around with faux-tough guy Don Imus last week exchanging homophobic machismo banter over Brokeback Mountain – is one of the most frightened people in the country. He does not see George Bush as an elected official to be held journalistically accountable, but rather, sees Bush as his "protector."
<snip>

The Conservative bedwetter is the principle voting demographic being massaged (er...sorry for the image) by Bush and Rove in this election cycle. They will enlist all of their enablers in the MSM to perpetuate this myth.

If we all do our jobs we can paint an accurate caricature of this timid, sheepish creature. This effort will be a necessary counterbalance to the daily stream of blood curdling fables which will be rolled out by OUR GREAT PROTECTOR and HIS BIG BRAIN between now and November.

So raise your keyboards for a toast..."here's to framing the debate for November...and here's hoping you don't book a hotel room the day after one of our gutless, Conservative friends!"

:toast:

(PS...This phraseology can also be used to describe Tom Vilsack and any other DINOs who pee themselves out of fear as well).

1. The scaremongers are running the country.
The bedwetters live in fear !!

Sad but true. We no longer look like "the home of the brave." We look like the nation of bedwetters because of the cowardly right-wing and their stupid followers. They are ready to scrap the Bill of Rights to give their fuhrer power to search without a warrant. Unbelievable.

Rove's plan (condensed version):

Use the THREAT of TERROR to SHOCK the easily controllable right wingers. Convince them that there is only one thing that will release their built up tension...Aaaahaa...voting for Buusshhh.

Aaaahaa...Bubba feel better!

(My apologies for for the unremitting use of the pee pee analogy)

F-ing BRILLIANT!

Let's rub it in their faces like so much baby-poo!

Conservative bed-wetters! republi-CON bed-wetters!

The "Boogey-man Brigade!"

"Neocon NINNIES!"

"Pseudo-Patriotic Panty-waists!"

Attack them at their strength. Why not? That's a page straight out of the rovian playbook. They think nothing of attacking our guys who are decorated war veterans - about the very combat experience that earned those war decorations. It's been my suspicion that this is also why they went after California with the whole recall business against Gray Davis - Go for broke. Risk BIG. Make bold moves. You may jsut win big, too.

Who says we can't do that, too?

Here's what I think of the idea:

We're not talking about incontent adult diaper wearers, or surgery recouperees with leaky catheters.
But paranoid, boogyman addicted neo-con followers who want to spend $550 BILLION this year alone on unnecessary U.S. military campaigns against countries whose only crime is that there governments don't want to cooperate with multi-national corporations, or whose people need military oppression to keep them from attaining any political power.

The beauty of this framing is the UTTERLY DELICIOUS mental picture it evokes in the mind.

We ABSOLUTELY need to hit them on this. We HAVE TO be gutsy enough to attack them at their strength. Might as well go for it.

…as Atrios says of Glenn Greenwald’s post.

Attacking Bush’s only weapon: Fear

“The argument which needs to be made is the one that we have seen starting to arise in the blogosphere and elsewhere: that living in irrational fear of terrorists and sacrificing our liberties and all of our other national goals in their name is the approach of hysterics and cowards, not of a strong, courageous and resolute nation.”

16. Fear doesn't cause bedwetting.
Children usually achieve nighttime dryness by developing one or both of two abilities. There appear to be some hereditary factors in how and when these develop.

* One is a hormone cycle in which a minute burst of an antidiuretic hormone happens daily at about sunset reducing kidney output of urine well into the night so the bladder doesn't get full until morning. This hormone cycle is not present at birth. Many children develop it between the ages of two and six, others between six and the end of puberty, and some not at all.
* The other is the ability to awaken before sleepwetting. For some children this is a natural extension of learning to be aware of and control their bladders while awake. For others, a variety of factors suppress or disrupt this awareness when asleep, and they are unlikely to develop it. Taking children to use the toilet while not fully awake can prolong dependence on that by encouraging them to urinate while nearly asleep.

And you can have the credit. :applause: As long as you blast it out as a brand from now on!

I just want to go on the Image Offensive for once rather than simply reacting to the latest Swift Boat attacks.

(BTW...there's a sub debate going on about the applicability of the term "bedwetter". Maybe you could weigh in and explain how you don't use the term literally...just as a euphemism for someone who's so scared they lose bladder control)

24. I agree. HOWEVER.
Don't forget, especially if you are of the M/LIHOP persuasion, that IF a Dem gets back into the Whitehouse, THEN the neocon terrorists will see this as carte blanche to attack the US again.

I used to think that another terror attack would be the repuke's only means of maintaining their grip on power what with all the GOP scandals/treason running rampant. But then I realized that the neocons could not AFFORD another attack on the US bcz that would mean the shrub had FAILED in his quest to Protect Us.

So, they are just lying in wait for the Dems to retake Congress and/or the WH, then they will let fly with another attack (this time of the WMD variety I am sure) leading to the immediate outcry of "see, Dems can't protect us! They allow terrists free reign! Waaa, give us Jeb! Poppy again! Barbara! Any Bush for me to hide in!!" followed by impeachment proceedings.

If Dems regain control this year, this could happend during the '08 campaign. More likely, it will occur during the '10 midterms, assuming a Dem retakes the WH in '08.

Just watch. Sorry if I'm too cynical today.

should become the debate line to remember.

"Don't you remember 9-11?"
"Are you still scared of that?"

"The terrorists are going to kill us."
"Go hide under your bed, then."

"You're giving aid and comfort to the enemy."
"No, I'm just not scared of them."

"The President is trying to protect us."
"From what? I'm not afraid of anything."

Poor little cowards, do they need Chimp to protect them? Maybe they'd better ask the people of New Orleans how well his protection works. :kick: :kick: :kick:

As far as how well he'll protect them, that depends on whether he has to interrupt one of his many vacations, or cancel a fundraiser, or stay up past his bedtime. Oh...and there might be cake to share with somebody, or a guitar to pose with...lots of things might affect his ability to "protect" the pathetic little bedwetting, neurotic cowards.

I'd rather take my chances with the party that gave us heroes like John Kerry and John Murtha, men who know what serving their country really means. People like Al Gore, who was chartering planes into New Orleans while Bush vacationed, and flying people who needed help out of harm's way. You know, people who actually do things, as opposed to would-be tyrants who can't do anything unless there's something in it for them.

This isn't about "bedwetting", it is about labeling. Everyone understands the euphemism of "bedwetting" for "cowardice". It's like "yellow belly" and "lily livered" and "weak kneed". "Weak Kneed" is not a slur on anyone who has had knee surgery or has weaken joints! I think "Bedwetter" is a great label for the craven bastards!
