Poll question: 2006 DU Poll....Support Dems or Not ?
Yeh, it's a broad brush stroke on current threads attacking and feeding on our own. I will choose to support all Democratic Candidates in 2006 with hopes of taking back Congress.

My wish is when we take back Congress, we can work on our progressive issues.

If we don't take back Congress in '06, heaven help us all.

Thanks :hi:

1. Other:
I'll vote for Dems for Congress but I'll work to throw out the DINOs and the weak during the primaries.

I don't blindly support just any Dem, but I'll vote for one for national office over a Republican.

3. 'splain DINOs ?
Do they hurt us or help us? So voting for Republicans would be simpler?

20. I support Dems in Dem primaries, see my sig line
David's w/Band of Brothers, but may have two challengers for the first Dem primary in our district in over 30 years. I'll support David then, but if he loses I'll support whichever Dem beat him. The key...get rid of Thelma Drake!

I just don't like the DINO label. It's divisive.

26. My point was that I said I will work against DINOs in the PRIMARIES.
I said nothing about voting for Republicans. As an example, I'll be supporting Lamont over Lieberman in the primary.

In the general, I vote vor the Dem.

What's the problem with that?

We don't have closed primaries. Sometimes the Puggies try to play games with Trojan Horse candidates.

Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 07:15 PM by Catchawave
Ya know, I just hate it when my son is referred to as a "retard", which means I spent alot of time in "spineless" areas...until we (both sides of the aisle) passed that "retard" bill in the early 70's

Since when did Dems enjoy mocking spinal injuries/birth defects? This bothers me too. It's so junior high.

10. Interesting response, because
you remind me of me...a republican staffer turned, a Carter democrat, turned Reagan Democrat, turned Green Party, turned Clinton Roadie, turned Pissed at the World Party, turned Desperate to save my country. Greens let me DOWN !

Oh yeah, I'm an animal rights activist too...and we're supposed to hate you all. Just kidding. I'm upper middle class, but still love animals and democrats :grouphug:

He's as conservative as they come, four-square for school prayer and the like. Even co-cponsored a Consittutional amendment to ban flag burning with Duke Cunningham.

9. Well, I'd try to have fun, but my conservative friends
Like the moderate (dino?) dems, so I'm working the middle the bestest as I can.

So far in my itty-bitty RED precinct, I have plenty of crossover votes for DINOs, which is turning into Anybody But A Republican! To wit, don't be playing POLITICS with them. Just sick of Bushism, and more Celebrity News. I'm serious!

15. Like there should be other options
If you don't like your current democratic candidate then fight for in the primaries for a better option. But when I'm stuck voting for Tom "Junior Lieberman" Carper in Nov 2006 I'll pull the lever next to his name with a damn smile on my face. Because my vote for Carper means I am voting for Harry Reid for my majority leader!

Good GAWD, we barely have any Dems who aren't afraid of challenging George ALLEN. and he desperately needs to be challenged! Well, we got a draft James Webb thing going now, but he's still on the Fence...drat.

Here guys, sign the fooking draft petition :)

18. Trust me, I agree with what you're saying
Anyhow there hardly are any republicans that could challenge Carper other than our representative Mike Castle, but Castle and Carper are good friends and he would never go up against him or Biden (we only have one rep in Delaware so representative is like a statewide position).

I know I don't have to like it but there is no way I'd vote for someone other than Carper. But since I'm only 30 minutes from the PA border and some really hot house races, I'll probably not bother should someone run against Carper in the primaries

24. Crappy poll!
Given a choice between an unconditional support of all Democrats, including pukes like Lieberman, and an unrealistic DLC meme of "if they fulfil my entire Wish List of Perfection" I must defer this poll altogether.

25. other, I guess.
I'll vote as I see fit - that usually doesn't fit into the categorizations you've set up. I'll likely vote straight Dem this year, but I'm not going to make that claim for certain when I haven't even seen some of the candidates.

My wish is when we take back Congress, we can work on our progressive issues.

I wished for that once too, except that it wasn't Congress but the presidency.

27. We MUST TAKE BACK THE HOUSE!
Then we will be in control of all the committees and can hold Bush accountable. If we can't do this in 2006 then we are sunk, perhaps forever.

I can't even THINK about losing the House and Senate in 2006. I just can't

On the upside, we do have 50+ vets running, so if we lose, we have our starter military for the Coup. (Just kidding Agent Mike!)

29. Other.
I'll vote for the Dem in a national election if there is no better option, from my perspective. The key here is that it will be MY perspective that makes that determination, not anyone else's.

As far as state and local elections go, I'll vote for the best candidate on the ballot, or, if I have to, I'll write someone in. There are no dems running in some local races, so whether I vote a Democratic ticket locally is moot. There won't be one to choose from.

32. 10 Progressive Caucus will become Committee Chairs if Dems take the House
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 09:59 AM by Douglas Carpenter
If the Democrats take the House this November

10 members of the Progressive Caucus would become chairmen of committees

John Conyers becomes Chairman of the Judiciary Committee

Even a vote for a conservative Dem is a vote for Conyers and the 10

https://www.democrats.org/page/contribute

If you are less than enthusiastic about the particular Democratic candidate or incumbent for your district or if you're disappointed and discouraged with the current Democratic Party leadership -- consider this:

"If Democrats retake the House, 10 members of the Progressive Caucus would become chairmen of committees," said Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher of the Nation.

Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., would take over the Judiciary Committee -- the panel that produced the Patriot Act -- and Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, would run the Education and Workforce Committee."
