NeoCons "need to stop pretending that Dr. King & his wife were apolitical"
Amen

Oliver:

"I’m sure the cons will get all hot and bothered over this denunciation of Iraq at the Coretta Scott King funeral, but they really need to stop pretending that Dr. King and his wife were apolitical people. They were progressive activists fighting against the closed minds of conservatism."

AmericaBlog says get ready for the swiftboating to begin. Does anyone think MLK or Mrs. King would pass up that opportunity to give them an a piece of their minds? Doubtful.

2. Anybody find a copy of the speeches at MLK's
funeral? I've looked and can't find anything but think it would be interesting to see what was said then.

3. Did the Democrats whine because they nearly made a Saint out of Reagan?
Both lives were very political. I do recall the funeral of Reagan, and granted he was a President...but the plane flying west into the sunset was really over the top...IMHO. But did a Democrat whine about it? No not one.

The King's lives were Democrat-progressive, they stood for civil rights for each American, no matter the color, sexual preference, disability, age, gender. Their lives were political.

But of course the "liberal" media will smear the Democrats every chance they get. Would we be in shock if they didn't take this road? They are that...they are predictable.

5. Repubs and the Kings
I think the Republicans secretly hate having to pay homage to the Kings (Martin or Coretta), whether at a funeral or on MLK Day. But if they really don't mind it, it's because they can use a tried-and-true propaganda technique: pushing one's own agenda as the true meaning of some sacred symbol.

What the Repubs probably hate is that the Kings (Martin and Coretta) ever became cultural icons. The only King they like is the one who now lives in the White House.
