Democrats Could Use Budget Typo to Force New Vote
Small typo, big headache

A typo in the budget-reconciliation bill may give congressional Democrats another shot at making political hay out of the $39 billion deficit-reduction measure President Bush signed yesterday.

Democratic leaders could block an attempt by Republicans to correct the clerical error and use the fight to highlight their fierce opposition to the legislation, which includes spending reductions in healthcare, education and other programs.

By doing so, Democrats would raise from the dead a yearlong fight against the budget cuts at the same time that they prepare to beat back another package of spending reductions called for in the president’s new budget.

Blocking a technical correction to legislation that has already been signed into law would be unusual, but budget battles on Capitol Hill are always partisan and House Democrats believe they have scored political points on fighting the GOP budget cuts.
....
Whatever the cause, the bill signed by the president is not the same bill approved by the House, aides agreed.

1. They could but they won't
I've given up completely on that bunch of spineless wimps. A handful of them are doing their jobs as opposition party members, but most of them are just place holders, sitting there and watching their pensions accrue and their portfolios fatten, fundraising when they're not required on the floor, and generally hoping nobody notices that they're not doing the damn job they were elected to do.

If you love your government, re elect the incumbents. If you hate what your government is doing, throw the bastards out. It's as simple as that. It's also WAY overdue.

2. Yes!
While they are at it, expose how Bush snuck in provisions to sabotage/corrupt our Social Security System.

3. Isn't that from the more recently released budget?
The one bush signed (with the typo) is the one dick raced back to cast the tie breaking vote.

And to think that we taxpayers paid for Snarlface's "emergency" transportation from the Middle East to the Capitol just so he could kick us in the private parts.

Thank you, sir, can I have another?! :banghead:

6. It would be wonderful if they did & a miracle if "nay" Repubs joined them.
So *if* they actually accomplished making a huge deal of this and *if* more Americans woke up and were po'd enough to make a huge stink to their reps and *if* a few "yay" Repubs actually switched their vote and ::gasp:: God/desss, etc forbid, voted truly in the best interests of ALL of their constituents (even the poor ones)... would that make the another budget bill Bush signed null? (which would piss him & Cheney off. ) Okay... okay... so it's a wild fantasy and extremely unlikely to happen BUT... a lady can have a wild dream now and then can't she?
